I thought this was a really funny interview. The bit where he talks about his principle of not accepting payment for movie adaptations of his work was just priceless.

"He doesn't want the money? Then ... what does he want?"

You know you've read too many Alan Moore interviews when you can usually complete his sentences for him when they ask him tired constantly repeated questions.

Other than that, it was hilarious.

I keep getting messages saying the file is missing. Can anyone else verify whether this is in fact the case? Has the file been taken down?

Or is Real Player just a piece of shit?

I listed to the interview this morning through realplayer (via the listen again feature) and it worked fine for me.

Okay, so it's my problem. The thing is, I've tried evrything I can think of to get the bugger going and nothing's working.

I really hate Real Player.

That was really good. Looking forward to Alan on Eno next week. Eno's always good value.

JR, I could kiss you. And I will.

Quite why I couldn't get it to work by following the link above, I have no idea, but it's working now.

I think him interviewing Brain Eno on Thursday will actually be even more cool, it's actually a smart idea for a program get interesting people to interview people they find interesting.
But I'd listen to Alan Moore talking about cheese to be honest he's just got a really relaxing voice.

Maybe Alan Moore could present Home Truths?

Spaniel
10:01 / 31.01.05
I think the idea's good in theory, and I've got to admit I love listening to Alan Moore prattle on, but didn't anyone else think it was all a little slight?
I mean, there just wasn't time for anything other than a summary of his work, and unfortunately I think we can expect more of the same with Eno.

Ho hum.

Spaniel
10:03 / 31.01.05
Moore's too grumpy for Home Truths, just ask Steve Bissette.

I went to the Moore/Eno recording, and it was pretty involved in places – Eno talking about his methodology of working, his occasional sense of depression at the sense that what he was doing might not be valid, etc. Two stunningly powerful brains at work in one room, really.
And if Eno calls Moore a ‘twit’ on Thursday’s broadcast, I should let you know that it was, in fact, a re-do, as he initially called him a bastard. Honest

Spaniel
12:39 / 31.01.05
I'm sure it was great, it's the edited version that I'll get to listen to that I'm anxious about.

12:42 / 31.01.05
Just curious, did Eno hint at any familiarity with Moore's work?

DaveBCooper
13:36 / 31.01.05
Not that I can think of, really – he seemed to be aware of it in a broad sense, and as Alan has a numbered set of the Oblique Strategies cards (which I gather were dished out to friends etc), he may well have read his stuff, but I don’t recall any direct examples of things he said which made it entirely certain.
They certainly chatted comfortably, as if they’d met before, mind, and bantered well – there was some Cook and Moore (heh) stuff which they did outside of the interview section which I hope will be included, as it got a huge laugh.
Overall, including technical glitches and re-done bits, the recording lasted for something like an hour, so it may not be utterly cut to shreds when broadcast…

I'm sure it'll be good. I mean, it's Alan Moore and Brian Eno, and I love them both dearly.

Another recent Moore interview which the non-rampagers among you may be unaware of.

Of specific interest here, perhaps - McKean's art on Arkham Asylum = "a gold frame around a dog turd".

God, that Engine interview is in dire need of a copy editor and a fact-checker—tons of personal names misspelled (Vladimir "Nabakoff" is just the beginning of it) and obvious mistranscriptions...

I love this bit (from the Engine interview):

>> AM: [talking about Scott McCloud, Alan loves the first book - Understanding Comics - but think McCloud's 'the future of comics is that comics should be done online' is bogus] ...the thing is, with Promethea 12, looked at materially, it's exactly the same technology as Action Comics 1. It's a number of sheets of paper with like images and words printed on them and a staple in the middle.

I just love the idea that all comics are basically "a number of sheets of paper with like images and words printed on them and a staple in the middle."

FinderWolf
19:28 / 07.02.05
I mean, it's not any particular brilliance to point that fact out, but in terms of imagining the limitless potential between, say, Watchmen, Promethea, other great comics, and what's contained in those pages in shitty comics.

Has anyone got a capture of the interview? There's nothing to download of Eno interviewing Moore, so I was hoping someone had grabbed the rumblings of the Great Wizard himself...

that interview's a couple of years old. think i read it spread over a couple of issues of top 2000ad fanny-book zarjaz, round 03 or so.

would really like to read lost girls one of these days.

lost girls sounds totally shit.

and the fact that i first heard mention of it around the time of 'the mind of wofie smith'
makes me think it will indeed be shit. how long does it take to write, publish and draw the fucker!!!!!!

best thing connected to sex that moore ever wrote was a single panel description and image of bad man who swampy was after. In it he shows and describes the man, 'cupping his balls with his left hand' (scots: cuppin' his baws we is left paw) as he lay in bed. He went on to describe it as a source of comfort for sa(i)d bloke.

gotta say, the old, pre-slumber, ball-cupping routine was never the same again.

think it was ish 63 or 64.

You might want to pop back to the Chain Reaction site for a few extra bits with Stewart Lee's interview with Alan Moore. Only about five to six minutes worth, but quite fun nonetheless.

Thank you so much for the extra bonus !
Does anyone knows how to save those files as mp3 or something, so I can copy them on my Ipod, for instance ?

Also, did anyone heard Chain Reaction where Alan is interviewing Brian Eno ? Is it available somewhere ?

Thanks !
