Ordering Comics

I've never preordered before and I've been wanting to start for a while but I get lazy.

How many of you preorder and what are you getting in March?

I don't pre-order - I browse the shelves when I go to the comic shop. While I realise that comics retailers have to pre-order comics sight-unseen three months in advance I refuse to be locked into the same system. If a shop will only buy certain comics if they are pre-ordered I would shop elsewhere. I can do this because I live in a large city with many comic shops all of which have a passing trade....

I don't live near a comic shop, so I just tell a shop (TravellingMan at the moment) what I want, and they send it to me - I normally tell them when the advance listings come out (ie 3 months advance), but sometimes it will be when the comic is released. If I hear good things about a comic, I'll ask them if they still have any in stock.

I just tell them in plain english, I don't quote ordering codes or anything.

I have Previews on my 'pull and hold' list.
When that comes in (around the end of every month) I go through it and make a list of what I want to order. Then I make a short list of what i want to order. Then I look up the product codes on the website of Diamond comics and fill out the order form included with the Previews catalog, the short order form near the front of the catalog. There is a due date listed in the catalog so I have to be sure to return my order form to my shop before that date so that they'll be able to place my order.
It's fairly easy with a Previews catalog to preorder stuff. Did that help at all?

Thanks.

I'll get a copy of previews regularly.
