sigils and servitors?

I have just started practicing magick and have two questions to begin with:

1. How do I know if I have properly charged a sigil?

2. Is it better to make a servitor's physical base myself or can I just use a tacky knick-knack from one of the local dollar stores?

Regarding Q1: I myself don't know if I've charged a sigil. Either it works (which it almost always does) or it's a dud (which occasionally happens).

Regarding Q2: I'll have to come clean here and admit I've never actually tried to do this, so what I'm going to say next is purely theoretical. From what I know, it shouldn't matter that much if you use a ready-made figure but you may do well to customize it a little.

Hope this helps!

Someone here, a while ago, said there can be an undefinable feeling or instinct when you charge a sigil, like you know deep down in some corner of your brain that it charged fully. (the 'Lither said it's a kind of "Right, that's done then" feeling)

Beyond that, it's all up to your experimentation with what works and what doesn't for you, based on observing results.

um, and about the servitor question...it would be better to use an object so you can destroy it and turn the servitor off once it's done it's job.
