Hello, found this today, seem legit, all 3 Marathon games, Mac only I think.

http://trilogyrelease.bungie.org/

Apparantly Bungee are allowing the games to be distributed for free (mostly because you can't buy them any more) - but they're still Bungie's intellectual property. You can't, for example, sell them.

Marathon 1 seems to want to run on OS9, havent tried the others yet.

free retro fun.

Has anyone tested these on X? I can't be bothered boot up in 9 just for games, but if they run under classic I'll have to give them a whirl.

You don't need to boot in OS 9 - Marathon 1 works fine in classic - the others seemed to work fine in OSX, but that could be because I'd already got classic up and running...

Still, plenty of fun for free...

Zod, I loved the first Marathon; it was the pirated darling of my then spanking new Mac Performa 10 years ago. I remember that as cool as DOOM was, my friends always still wanted to play Marathon. There were many patches and .MODs to be had for it, too, like those that turned the big aliens into Barney and the ones that ran around into Power Rangers. Made the whole death n' destruction part more appealing. Anyone know if those are still available anywhere? Once I have a Mac at my ready use again I'll be all over this.

If you wanna come by my apartment I've got 5 old Macs to get rid of, though thinking about it, it might be fun to set them all up for one last retro LAN party.
Yeah, we could party like it's 1999.

Thanks for the offer, but my best friend has actually already promised me his old G3, so I'm covered.

Also go to http://source.bungie.org/

So you can run it properly on Windows, Linux and OS X. It's like the upgraded Doom's and Quakes when they open sourced them. Niceness.

Have you checked the archives? it's probably in there somewhere.

Me, I'm looking forward to playing Evil one last time
