I like the idea that "I was a thief" is less shameful by far than "I bought a Ned's Atomic Dustbin T-shirt". Like it... and understand it completely.

On reflection, I *did* pay both for a Porno for Pyros (dayglo matchbox, tour dates on back) and a Cornershop "token honky" T-shirt, but they *were* both on sale. This was during the period when I was rebelling against collared shirts after leaving school...

I think my first concert shirt was a black INXS one, picked up at a show—I bought the band-branded beret as well, then suffered a fit of embarrassment, tried to remove the patch, and ended up ruining the hat entirely. Shame, as I quite liked how I looked in a military-style beret.

Shut up: it was the 80s.

I've pretty much stopped buying or wearing band t-shirts in the last 5-6 years, altogether. I stopped buying them cause I had so damn many of things that it seemed stupid to buy MORE. Then, after a while it got to a point where the printed image would really bother me, physically. The area of skin behind the printed area would get extra hot and sweaty and who needs that?

On the other hand, my band is currently debating getting t-shirts made. It seems prohibitively expensive, compared to buttons (or pins). I can get 100 one color 1 inch buttons for under $50 and give them away to anyone who wants one and not feel as though I am losing money on them. In fact, I just saw someone I don't remember meeting wearing one the other day. That blew my mind.

These days, I think pins are cooler than t-shirts.

That said, I am considering getting a "Sorry Ma" t-shirt from these folks:

I went through a phase of buying a Marillion T-shirt at every gig, irrespective of whether I'd ever wear it. This is back in the days when they only seemed to make them in extra-large-Iron-Maiden-fan-size, and I don't wear huge T's.

Then at the gig before last I saw they had T-shirts on sale with unique prints of 'The Only Unforgiveable Thing' (a song only on the oneline retail version of the last album, never played live) lyrics, each shirt different to the next, and bought one even though I'd have to be three of me for it to fit. Damn.

I also spent a fortune on Pogues merch at the Christmas gig I went to in 2001. Two T-shirts (only one of which I've ever worn, the other being 'St. Patrick's Day Green') a hoodie of the same virulent shade, a mug... and more. I blame whisky and speed, like a good little MacGowanite.

Belt them. Wear with leggings.

My favorite concert shirt has to be an aincent Nirvana t-shirt that describes the reproductive cycle of seahorses on the backside.

Aren't male seahorses the ones who give birth?

I need your clothes, your boots, and your motorcycle.

I refuse to wear anything but t-shirts, so my wardrobe is formed of mostly band shirts. Mostly crappy metal bands too. Mudvayne, Rammstein, a couple KMFDM, Beastie Boys, Korn(retired), 4 Rage against the machine(ALL lost, and I'm quite pissed), System of a Down, Slipknot(thrown away), concert-made Gwar(lost), 2 Tool(semi-retired for size reasons), a tour shirt of Mudvayne/Rammstein/System of a Down/Slipknot (trying to scrape the Slipknot off), Static-X. There must be more, but I can't remember them.

I really need some new clothes.
