Sigil Making Software

Does anyone one knows if such a thing exists? It just seems bloody good idea basically. I was thinking specifically machine created symbols, i.e. it seems like a fantastic way to "hide" the desire in the sigil itself, if you haven't created it by hand.

Would it be a good idea creating some if none exists? You must excuse my inexperience here - I've only just started using magick - is it essential that you manually create the sigil yourself?

Out of curiosity, what are your programming skills? If you could make software of this type without too much trouble, I'd say the answer to your question is probably going to come in this form:

"try it out, and tell us the results."

I can see potential advantages and disadvantages to a computer making the sigil. But since nobody knows how magic works, it's difficult to say whether it should theoretically be either more or less effective.

Dee Vapr: That's one of the best ideas I've heard in ages! It shouldn't be too hard to accomplish for somebody with a modicum of programming skills. You could have all kinds of fun with the resulting image, too- turning it into a screensaver, using it as wallpaper for your desktop (or better yet, your web site).

I've been building sigils in Photoshop and Illustrator for a while now... I gave it a try when my roomate named his computer "Sigil"; and so I made him an appropriate desktop with sigil-icons (vague sigils relating to efficiency and effectiveness, and of course, an obligatory "anti-crash" sigil). It's pretty simple, and you can get some beautiful sigils out of fonts you'd never use.

then you can use Macromedia Flash to animate them. my experiment : http://walledcity.no-ip.com/SIGIL

Darn tootin'. Maybe you could even use fonts with particular names or conotations to achieve particular effects.

That's really funny, I was just thinking about animating sigils in flash to burn them into my mind. Sigil making software would require a decent professional programmer, something I'm not.

If anyone could post some links for basic sigil visualization techniques I'd appreciate it.

I sent a viral meme sigil through cyber space pretending to be touchy-feely psuedo christian spam. I sent it to people who would forward it and they passed it around more and more.

The results were very nice.
