I'm going to try this next full moon -- I remember seeing this thread and thought it was interesting.
As for why Moon Knight, I think the icon of the character (basically, a simple half-moon), as well as the character's name, might be functioning as a sigil or powerful symbol of the moon, of Diana, and of all the things that night and the moon represent (romance, mystery, sexual adventure, magic, the imagination, dreams becoming reality, etc.).
I think it really doesn't have anything to do the Marvel Comics character Moon Knight -- moreso, I think, that for the person who created this little sigil-type experiment, the moon image served to channel all the power and implications of what Diana, the Goddess of the Moon, and the Moon itself represent, both magickally and in our collective subconscious (or maybe both are the same thing?).
And also, keep in mind that Diana was a predator, goddess of the hunt. This experiment certainly is about a search or hunt, albeit with a sexual goal in mind.
And let's not forget the ties the moon has, in both symbol and reality, to the female cycle, which if course is closely tied into female sexuality. |
