Myself: an introduction

Hi, my name is Gwen and I'm not really new in the "just-joined" sense, but I am new in the "hasn't-been-around-since-she-joined" sense. Recently, I've been help some lawyers in Ohio investigate the last 'election.' Before that I wasn't doing anything, and before that I was trying to get Kerry elected. The day after tomorrow, I'll be leaving for England.

I'm not quite sure if this post follows proper posting etiquette, since that page appears to have been taken over by Viagra and car commercials. If it doesn't, I hope you'll forgive me being rude and uneducated.

I'm also alas's niece. I'm delighted to be here.

Well bite my nose and call me a donkey, always nice to have new people.
I assume we can count on you in the switchboard. Anywhere else?

Hiya Marlina, welcome along to the programme!

By the way, haven't we met before, in a Mexican border town about fifty years ago? My name's Welles, Orrsun Welles.

Thank you for your work in Ohio. I'm not a member of the tinfoil hat brigade, but damn if that whole thing didn't stink to high heaven.

I'm going to be in England for January, and I'll be wandering around Europe until the beginning of June.

I know my username is spelled wrong, but it's sort of intentional. I wouldn't want to be confused with the real Marlene Dietrich, by any means.

Thank you for your welcome... I would have posted earlier, but I was unused to the whole "replying to everyone in one comment" thing. Hi!

Hello and welcome. I'm pretty new around here myself.

For a moment I thought you'd been scared off by the rigorous analysis of your spelling.
Anyway, this being the conversation, I don't think it really matters too much if you double post a bit. It's the non-serious part of the board, so relax!

Hooray for nonseriousness!! Welcome to town. Have you been browsing the 'lith all this time at least? I for one read a lot more than I post.

Would you like to come to my house and see my puppies?

You mean you're not the real _dead_ Dietrich? Drats.

Welcome to this board and welcome to these shores!

Do men flutter to you like moths around a flame? Then, when their wings burn, you know you're not to blame.

Wish Seth would let me play with his puppies...

This is starting to move from lighthearted to possibly quite disturbing. Impersonating a dead woman, while burning the wings of little puppies.
Is this really the kind of person we want here?

Alternatively, shouldn't we be actively trying to recruit more people who impersonate dead people while burning the wings of little puppies? It would certainly make for interesting conversation on those evenings where there's nothing but repeats on the telly...

Yes, interesting conversation is good.

Any niece of alas is a niece of mine.

Sort of.

Any reports that you may have heard about me burning the wings off little puppies are completely and entirely false. I think. I generally like puppies, with or without wings.

I don't have much internet access here, but I'll try to read or post as often as possible.

Do little puppies still have wings then? I haven't seen one in a while.

Gonna be visiting Edinburgh on yer travels? I only ask as we are very protective of our flying puppies.

When I was little, we thought our dog was going to have puppies, but she miscarried and all that came out was wings. We weren't sure whether puppyless-wings deserved a burial or not. It was quite disconcerting to say the least.

You and me both, lilly...

Did you know, up north it's still often the practice to remove the wings from puppies at about eight weeks old. Apparently it's usually done if they're to be working dogs.
Unless the work involves flying, obviously, but I think that's much more a southern type thing.

They make very effective crop sprayers if fed the right diet, I hear.

Southern pigeon fanciers still use dogs for herding, so they say. Up north it's still largely "one man and his flock".

Hey Stoatie, we could do a dog share program perhaps? I'm bothered by wings, if the puppy has wings, it has wings!
