London New Year

Just wondering what folks are doing around here for New Year's Eve. I'm not entirely sure of course; there are several things on offer such as Andre Street Shennanigans, The Other's Party, even Stoke Newington stuff at the Eye. I'm in personal debate and babysitter crisis. New Year's Eve is always such a perplexing time...

Not doing anything on New Years Eve due to work and the difficulty of finding a pub that's not chock full of wankers being charged far too much for booze.

Am up for doing something Sunday/Monday afternoon though...

No plans as yet as I have no interest in spending an evening queueing in a bar drinking the drink it just took me an hour to order and paying cover charge for the privilege. I'd entertain if I had somewhere to do it.

Nonetheless the I wholeheartedly support the idea of a NYD meet up and shall kick off the cat hearding by nominating the Jorene Celeste, for old times sake, at 1500 on Saturday.

Well apparently The Londesborough and The Prince in Stokey are not charging a cover and not raising any prices. They are, however, pubs which are inherently patronized by wankers.
I've actually sorted all night/morning babysitting and as I'm quite due for a bit of celebrating, off I go, somewhere...

Well, I'll be where Lilly Nowhere is (somewhere?). Maybe we can drop in on you at work with a pub full of wankers in tow? I'm sure you can charge them an entrance fee for the privilege?

Just learnt that Critical Mass has been moved from tomorrow to today.

Ergo I shall be riding around the streets of London causing havoc with the traffic. Much the same as many of the drunken revelers but more able to respond to abuse with witty one liners.

OOO TM, that makes me sound so desired!

I have no plans, really. Right now, believe it or not, I am in the Mac store on Regent Street, test-driving iBooks, and trying to figure out if I really need the 14" one, or if the 12" is adequate.... Then I shall, presumably, go home with my new toy (whichever one I get). Whether I then leave the house again is anyone's bet.... :]

(Check your PMs, though, Lilly)

You're in the Mac store pondering adequacy?

Either you're in the wrong shop or you're getting the 14" version.

I think I'm gonna get the 12 inches, ackcherly. The keyboard is about the same on both of them (ie, I can use it but the return key is a bit smaller than I'm used to). I didn't even use half the memory on my old laptop so I don't need that much. And it's soooooo cute!

I have a 12" and it's a fine size, though squinting at it for long periods of web activity can be a bit hard on the eyes. You can take it anywhere, use it on the train etc, which you can't really do with a 17" PBook.

I've just been informed that my friends are going to a restaurant but nobody asked me if I wanted to come (still not on the London Events Mailing List) so I don't have a seat booked. Thus I expect I will have some chips. However, I am going to go to PRoD anyway.

I thought you were in the MAC store Anna. Buying new lipstick would be much more fun if you were to ask me. I leave all the computerish buying stuff to TM.

NYE hangover making my eyesight too poor on any screen!

Now, really, Lilly, a 14" lipstick would be a bit much, doncha think?

I saw midnight in on the top of Primrose Hill, watching fireworks, drinking rum and champagne (not together) and talking to crazy drunk people who tried to steal my coat and convince me I am Persian.

It was much quieter and less fraught with drama than last year -- and I didn't have a hangover. So that was nice.

Oh, yes, and I got the 12" iBook. It's looooooovely.
