Does anyone play online games in here?

My brother just bought EQ2 and it seems alright, for an online RPG that is, and was just wondering if anyone else is engaged in such a highly creative activity, and cares to share an opinion. Also, why isn't there a section on gaming?

Because one games-related thread every six months hardly seems worth it. It has been suggested before in the Policy and the general consensus of those who gave an opinion was that it would be a forum that makes the Arts, Fashion and Design forum look like a frenetic hive of activity by comparison.

Yeah. I mean, I would contribute to such a thing, if it weren't for this pesky border war I'm fighting with the Gauls in Total War, which is consuming a lot of my computer time.

To get back to the topic- I believe many lithers do play online games; have a skim through the "what videogames" thread- I think towards the end there's some discussion about it.
I will do, as soon as I get broadband (probably next month the way my finances are looking at the moment).

Gauls are great, they're currently helping me defeat those pesky romans while playing as the greeks(superdooper helmets).

Oh and don't get EQ2, it's still crack.

I would play online games if I had anyone to play them with. I know there's online communities you can join but I'd rather play people I know in meatspace or at least am already familiar with online. Much more satisfying pumping hot virtua lead that you have FEELINGS for. Weak, frail feelings that can only be purged through hot, purifying automatic fire! Hallelujah!

To clarify I've started asking around my office (40+ people or so) if they want to get together for a game of something but I wouldn't mind hooking up with the Barbeloids for some deathmatch action.

At the moment I'd be up for Rise of Nations, Battlefield 1942 or Half-Life 2. Dig?

Guild Wars. If you haven't seen it check it out. My brother and I have been playing the beta, and I can't get enough. It's somewhere between Dungeon Siege and Dark Alliance. And it's only sort of an MMORPG. It's really just the old diablo battle.net with a 3D city instead of a chat room.

Other than that, I tend to stay away from online games, because I would rather deal with bots.

An online deathmatch between barbeloids would be an excellent event. Anyone interested? I'd vouch for Battlefield 'Nam, or something like that.

When I get me broadband, I'd be well up for it.

I don't play games online much, but I found a very engaging (tho creepy) one recently where you have to solve the mystery of your own death. (nice)

Currently playing the Uk Beta for City of Heroes (places still open if you register, runs until end of January) whenever I get access to my folks broadband.

Best bit is of course creating your own superhero costume, the other good thing about the uk beta is that all the cool names are still free, so King Mob et al are still up for grabs . Took me about 2 hours to get my first hero just so, there are a hideously large number of costume options. Alas as are the opportunities for fashion crime

I've played quite a bit on the US servers with a Tank character but I'm giving this one a go with a empathy defender with those handy force bubbles and teleportation. If anyone else gets in the beta look up the Crimson Knight to go fight some crime .

Oh goldfish, was that an online version of an old infocom game called Deadline?

I don't think so. The one I played was called 'The Dead Case' and located at newgrounds.com

BZFlag is a silly tank deathmatch game, needs someone who can host it though...

I think that was a hint.
