Decent alternatives to Soulseek

Hey, just a really quick question.

Soulseek seems to make my laptop run funny. It seems to periodically jam every ten seconds or so, for a period of about thirty seconds. No idea what the problem is.

So can any of you guys either suggest how to fix the problem, or point me towards any file sharing services that can match Soulseek for quality and quantity of tunes?

Have you given the new version a try? Soulseek just released version 155.214 in the last couple of days or so.

I've just started using eDonkey... seems pretty good so far (only problem is you can't do anything with incomplete files, afaik, which can be pretty annoying if you're missing the last couple of minutes of a live set or something...)

got the same problem with my soulseek and solved it by narrowing my researches using more words.

Cheers, Kiwi! That seems to work just fine.

The fewer words you enter in any search, the better. I try not to ever include more than three words.

But that makes my computer break, Matthew.

Is it just me or is Soulseek considerably shitter than it used to be.

[Risking a cliche] is Soulseek dying?

And are there any decent alternatives? This thread hasn't really thrown up any so far.

eDonkey is the one that was recommended to me but now I use Acquisition - it even runs on my antique mac. It is 'the bollox', as the kids say... I hope that means it's good? I use it for sharing my George Formby collection... being so with it and all... what? [stands in corner, shuffling slippered-feet on carpet, hands in pockets of wooly old-person cardigan].
