I need something simple to use, I've got MP3s that I want to edit, mainly because I want to take one song out of a longer track, or remove superfluous gumpf on the start and/or end, so I can put it on my own compilation CDs. Anyone recommend a simple tool?

Audacity is open-source and will do all that, though may be more powerful than you need.

Seconded. Although it can get glitchy in Windows. It's great. Also useful for recording everything from webcasts to microphone inputs. Ace.

Well, when I went to the website they said the new version sorted out the glitch problems, I hope that's the case. Anyway, I've just downloaded and fiddled about with a track and it seems to have done the trick, so thanks guys!
