So, anyone know of cool and funky things on this New Years Eve in New York City? I'll be down that way with my lovely partner in crime, and am currently looking for action.

Anything weird and wonderful? Odd and awesome? Fun and funky? Anybody?

Asobi Seksu (Literally: Sport Fuck) and Autodrone are playing a gig together and they're both great droney shoegazy bands. The first has a japanese girl singing, sometimes in Japanese, the second a girl with an affected (I think) british accent.

Both are bands I'd see on their own, and I'd be really excited about them playing together were I not scheduled to be thousands of miles away, alas.

I've seen Asobi Seksu before, and while I don't think they're a bad band I do feel they're a bit overrated. Perhaps folks are just a too tittilated by a Japanese girl singing about sex. Just my opinion, mind.

I, of course, will be at the NYE Motherfucker, with barely suppressed hopes of one-upping last year's, where I nearly was drafted as the sole male in a foursome. ("You mean you want to nearly be drafted into a fivesome?" Oh, you cards...) However, depending on many things including whether I can find a good pre-MF intoxication situation, I may or may not be there by midnite, so if anyone else has viable suggestions to that end, make wittem.

I have a long-standing tradition of spending New Year's in bed.

Anyone care to join me?

Now THAT'S what I like to hear.

(I was tempted to make with a "Oh, beHAVE," but then I'd have had to have kicked my own teeth down my throat, and I'm neither that flexible nor that masochistic.)

Still canvassing for somewhere to get sufficiently sloshy preceding Motherfucking, preferably at a minimum of cost.

Mike Patton's doing a show at Knitting Factory on New Year's Eve, and I'll probably be there. Anyone else thinking of attending? It's Patton with John Zorn, of Mr. Bungle, should be pretty cool.

John Zorn was in Mr. Bungle?? I know he produced them, but that's a little different.

I'm thinking of trying to make this show, but I'm not exactly overflowing with funds and I'll be dropping money on admission and drinks at MF. I know at least one of my friends is going, so I may try nonetheless. We'll see.

According to a poll I took last week, I resemble Mike Patton in some significant way, but I don't know who he is. I thought he might be that guy from Sublime who OD'd, but I guess he can't be, since it sounds like he, Mike Patton, is still alive.

Anyways, I can't go, I'm busy.

I've discovered a possible activity preceding and following midnite: The Tank (432 W. 42nd St. b/t 9th & 10th Aves.), where there is set to be music, a live projection of the Times Square ball drop, and complimentary champagne. Best of all, it's FREEEEEEE...

So I'm cheap. I'll blow my wad on MF, hopefully in more than one sense.
