Montreal : Last minute bash and premptive strike for 2005

Okie dokie. I'm *still* an Australian stuck in Montreal, but now I've developed the capacity to speak to other people without seizing up. So, if anyone's up for last minute drinks on Sunday (12th of Dec), let me know - I'm thinking Hurleys, as that's easy (unless that's likely to be a nightmare on a Sunday arvo?)

And on top of that - let's get the ball rolling for 2005, if people are keen. Are people keen? I was thinking mid Feb, but I'm open to suggestions...

Oh damn, I just can't do Sundays in town. I am all up for the New Year though. January - Februaryish, sometimes?

Hurley's is definately our official meet-up point. If we organize ourselves early enough, perhaps we can work around everyone's plans well enough.

Too bad I couldn't have a pint with you this afternoon, Janus.

Did I mention to you that last meet, although you couldn't make it, there was a table that had been reserved for someone by the name of Janus? Strange though, the whole time we were there no one had come to claim the table. When Keggers and I got there, we thought perhaps you had reserved it yourself for all of us. I suppose you were there, Janus, in some manner. Cheers mate!

That's fantastic! Wasn't me, but I'm glad I managed to get my head in somehow.

My schedule is pretty flexible, these-a-days - so I'm pretty much happy to work around everyone elses timeframes. I'm going to throw Saturday the 29th of Jan out as a date, just because that tends to get the ball rolling. Ultimately though, I'm happy with any old date.

As for Sunday drinks, such is life - I figured it was both a long shot, and worth a try - I'm off down NYC way for Christmas, so I thought I'd try and squeeze a last minute drink in under the radar.

Hi!
Sorry, I missed that sunday thing.
I'm up for another meeting anytime. Schedule's presently pretty loose (but is likely to get more crowded soon). Weekends are still generally free for now though. January 29th, by the way, happens to be my birthday.

In the last minute tradition, tonight, New Year's Eve, I'll be at the Saphir, a club on St-Laurent just below des Pins. It's 35$ for all-night open bar Music is indie/alternative rock/retro downstairs, gothic upstairs. So if you're alone, come welcome the New Year with copious amounts of beer and cheap champagne.
(I hang out there relatively often anyway, so if you want to come some other time just mention it here)

Happy New Year, people!

Hippy New Year!

So, given that the 29th is your birthday, how does Sunday afternoon on the 30th sound? I'm utterly flexible - just want to meet some Montrealers now this cold weather is beginning to scare me...

The Sunday the 30th is a lovely idea, Janus. We should make reservations, send out the invitations and note it in our datebooks then? What time shall we convene on said Sunday afternoon? Perhaps about two or three o'clock then? At the highly recommended Hurly's Irish Pub?.

Come with bells on and preferably something else as well, because it is feckin' cold out there.

Hmm...Is there a fire place at Hurley's? Do you think if we could take a headcount by say Sunday the 16th..., then maybe we could reserve the spot nearest to it. I suppose we could even estimate about five or six. I would also like to check if they do a Sunday brunch. In that case I would like to arrive closer on two, rather than three-ish. They might even have an Irish band playing that day. Apparently the Menu Special that day is Standing Prime Rib with Yorkshire Pudding. Fabulous.

Sounds good to me - the 30th it is. Who else is in the Montreal area (and therefore I should give a poke via PM just to make sure they've seen this)?

I'm happy to make reservations once we've got a headcount - at least this time we *will* get a table under Janus

Helloooooo?!

I think it is time to PM some sleepy Montrealithers.

14:40 / 17.01.05
Oooookay - doesn't look like a reservation is currently in order, really. I'll still be there, of course, and the more the merrier - I'm sure we can stake out a table without too much problems!

I can be there.

Might still be a bit messed up from the night before, but that's ok.
Has anyone heard from or contacted the others? There's Kegboy and Woogy, who came last time. There's also a guy called Solomon who posted on a Montreal thread at some point, not sure if he's still around.

Any other lurkers out there?

Saint Keggers
21:59 / 21.01.05
I should be there unless anything unexpected crops up.

The 29th is also my brothers B-day. He doesnt come here but I still thought I'd put that out.

Woogy
00:51 / 28.01.05
Hellooooo,

Long time no type/see.

I plan to be there...I just heard about it.

What time are we talking about here?

???

rising and revolving
13:15 / 28.01.05
I'll be there at 2pm - if people are planning on arriving much later than that, let me know and I'll make sure I hang about.

I'll be the tall skinny bloke with the short cropped hair and goatee - may even see if I can dig up a blank badge between now and then.

Woogy
22:50 / 28.01.05
Hrmm... unfortunately I work until four that afternoon...
If there seems to be any chance of the magic being prolonged until fiveish, perhaps someone can let me know.

rising and revolving
23:01 / 28.01.05
Sure thing. Five is good by me, if it's good by everyone else.

Problem is, I won't know what people are thinking unless they reply here. I may just turn up at 2 and stay til 5 to be safe ... I have a good book, should I be lacking in company.

So five o'clock on Sunday, January the 20th at Hurley's? I am THERE! Unfortunately, I cannot bring the youngest Montrealither with me, but he is really not into the beer anyway.

Papess
11:20 / 29.01.05
Actually, if you are there at 2 Janus, I can be there earlier. PM me for my phone number.

Papess
14:42 / 29.01.05
whoops, that is today. I should be there about 3-4 o'clock.

Saint Keggers
17:01 / 29.01.05
My mistake.
Its tomorrow. Keggers should not be allowed to talk to fellow lithers before he's had adequate amount of coffee in him.
My mistake.

Papess
17:03 / 29.01.05
...how does Sunday afternoon on the 30th sound?

Nevermind. Tomorrow it is. I shall be there at 3:00pm with Keggers.

Gus
01:31 / 30.01.05
Okay, I'll be aiming for 3pm also then. So there's no need for Janus to come an hour early. I don't have anything later so I can stick around a while by the way, no it's no problem waiting for Woogy.

14:24 / 30.01.05
3pm it is! And counting!

I'm assuming posting in this thread didn't ultimately count as "letting woogy know" by the non-woogy shaped hole at the table (and in our hearts *sob*).

Fun was had, booze was drunk, crap was talked, and at times we managed to raise the conversational level to triple-entendre.

Let's go back to the embalming fluid, eh?

Papess
16:42 / 31.01.05
That was a very lovely meet. Montreal has the sexiest 'lithers. (Don't ya think?). We should have recruited the red-head in the blue dress, however. I did bring an extra set of ass-candles with me.

Well, I am all up for more shots of embalming fluid anytime, my lovelies.

And Woogy...we all missed you. You better come to the next one because we are planning to mummify you.

Papess
16:44 / 31.01.05
Wait, that was the blonde in the blue dress, and the red-head with the boots. See? That is why I had an extra set of ass-candles!

Woogy
19:05 / 31.01.05
Awww. Shucks! I'm sorry I missed the fun, but I was asked to stay at work longer, and I'm in DESPARATE need of the cash. Fill me in on the next meet...I look forward to experiencing the mummification process. And thanks for not Barbe-excommunicating me this time!

Papess
19:22 / 31.01.05
You are forgiven, Woogers. BUT! You had better be there next time.

YOU WILL BE EMBALMED AND MUMMIFIED AND YOU WILL ENJOY IT!

But I am a little confused. Janus had two eyes...

hello out there folks!

I've been looking to meet some 'lithers in montreal since last spring. ass candles? this might not be my scene, but then again, try any thing twice. (Mr. 6 stole that frome me, by the way). just moved here a few months ago and i've been testing my networking skills looking for discordians, wiccans, and a regular knitting circle. Yes, also looking to 'get things going for 2005'. the local Psychedelic Comunity seems to be french unfortunately. anyway, if you're getting drunk again, count me in

Hiya Solomon! We shall be doing the Barbemeet thing soon and would love to meet you. Our numbers are increasing. I might even have a fresh new barbe-virgin for us to corrupt.
