Temple Wiki Projects!

Hey, people!

If any of you have done anything on the Barbelith Wiki involving the various Temple projects but haven't been keeping track of this Policy thread, we need your help. (Not much help, just a little.)

The old material here is being moved to a new home over here.

The spambot attacks on the old wiki are too much for us to keep editing back by hand, so we're shifting all that material to a new site with more secure software.

What *that* means is that all those FAQs, indexes, annotations and magickal projects have to be moved. It's as easy as hitting "edit" on the old page, selecting all, copying, then going to the new page and hitting "paste".

Well, that and... the links need to be changed from CamelCase (run-on words with capital letters) to [[Bracketed Links in Title Case]]. Tom is working on getting that process simplified, but I just did all the Donnie Darko annotations yesterday and it wasn't that bad.

There's just an awful lot of material in the Temple, and I'm not familiar with all of it (and thus more prone to overlook things).

So, go and check out the situation. If you haven't seen the various FAQs and whatnot, some of it is really great and you're missing out.

Then go move it to the new place!

Looks great!

I took a look at the PKD wiki but it looks like the actual links to commentary are uneditable.

I'm not sure what you mean by that -- external links are the same, so they don't need editing.

Hmm, very odd... yesterday the links ("comment one") were just text. Oh well, problem solved!

dude! It’s a wiki. You make your own links. With [brackets], just like grant says.

I think it’s pretty much moved now. As Tom says here, you lot might want to have a dig around and check, I might have missed a page or two, what with me not being a Temple poster or even really knowing what you’re on about half the time. But, you know what’s really noticeable? That the Temple is populated by a completely different set of people now than the ones who built most of that wiki: they’ve all gone, and now it’s *your* barbelith: your wiki really does need your contributions.

And finish off what’s been started, too. The PKD Valis annotations aren’t even half-done, for example: I can’t believe the current Temple regulars don’t have anything to say on this subject. Any of those pages, you can just add your thoughts to. Any of them. And all the red links are the bits that haven’t even been started yet.

And I stuck a link to this thread in the Urban Mage section of the wiki, as I was moving it. Take it out again if you want, it just seemed to me like it might fit. That whole Urban magic section could really benefit from some new ideas and someone with a bit of vim. I’m looking at you, Morgue.

Anyone still wanting to know more about how a wiki works and what *you* can do with it, just start a thread in Policy and start talking. Answers will surely follow.

This is amazing, I'm looking forward to looking through that lot. I'll add something too if I feel it's worthwhile, and reading through the rest of the Gnostic Gospels and spending a lot more time studying PKD's exegesis is something I've been wanting to do ever since I read VALIS earlier this year.

I helped start the PKD wiki, along with Nietzche E. Coyote and a few others. I ran into my own wall not being able to have access to the published Exegesis (v. hard to find). Yes, that wiki remains unfinished. As with many collaborative web projects, people loose interest, get diverted, or just have too many other things to juggle. It'd be nice to see some fresh insight from new peeps.

Yeah hopefully I'll get some time soon to have a read of that again, it should be great seeing if I have anything to add. I'm sure I'll find something.

Anyway, just posting to see if anyone knows what's going on here with the HyperSigil Wiki. I thought it had been forgotten about but when I clicked around I found that people are still adding to it. Will this be moving aswell due to the spam that's all over some of the pages?

I hope so, it looks rather fucked up. I can't even find the previous editions so I can restore it, though that may just be due to my poor wiki-fu.
