Where are the newsgroups?

I've just installed Mozilla Thunderbird and I thought I'd like to join some newsgroups, but I can't find any. I know there are millions out there. Help?

What exactly do you mean by "newsgroups"?

You mean like old UseNET stuff?

yeah, like usenet stuff. The only one I've found that was worth anything at all was a technical support group for Firefox and I found that on their website somewhere by accident.

as much as I like Firefox, I suspect that there must be more reason than that for Outlook Express and Thunderbird and other mail downloading programs to tout their newsgroup abilities.

You can only access the Usenet groups your ISP subscribes to, or ones you have a paid subscription to. Have you altered Thunderbird's default Usenet confuguration? If not, you may only be accessing the Mozilla Foundation newsgroup.

Have you got your ISP's news server address? Password? All that good stuff?
