3rd or 4th December - London

I'm planning to be in London on the 3rd and 4th of December, so wondered if anyone wants to go for drinks one of those evenings? (Or wants to do something else?)

I will bring the last episode of 6 Feet Under for Flyboy and Anna if they still want it (if they can't make it, presumably someone can pass it on to them?)

I do not have much idea of London pubs or other such places, so if anyone can suggest somewhere to go, that would be good.

So, where are you when not in London?

More to the point, where are you when you are in London so that people can suggest places that are easy for you to get to?

I am in Southampton usually, which I shall pretend is really far away from London. Somewhere central would obviously be easiest for me to find.

Well, I've just realised I can't make either night anyway (except maybe after 9pm on Friday) so where people decide to meet is kind of a moot point, for me.

Which means it would be kind of presumptuous of me to suggest anywhere. Which doesn't help much, I know.

Even if you are not coming, you are still welcome to suggest a pub. (Although that might mean we go to your favourite pub without you, which could seem a little unfair, I suppose).

So, anyone that can make it - would you prefer Friday or Saturday?

I think Saturday would be easier (for me at least). London Bridge would be easier for me so I suggest The George.

Me me me.

But I could always manage something like the Plough, actually that might be good because I could get some Christmas shopping done around Oxford Street.

I'm not really helping.

I suggest Saturday/Plough/18.00 - with the lead pipe.

On Saturday, there is a NaNoWriMo meet at The Litten Tree, Westminster/Victoria until about 5pm, so anywhere in vaguely the same part of London as that (or Waterloo, since that is where I will be getting a train from afterwards) would work well for me.

Decent pubs in Victoria area... well, probably not the Litten Tree. The Pimlico Wine Vaults has only one kind of lager, so may not be to everyone's taste. The Kings Arms is a bit small ... the Surprise at Pimlico? Bit of a walk, and I haven't been there for about three years. Balls Brothers is pricey, the Goring Bar also pricey...

Hoom.Stage Door? Might be OK at the weekend....

Waterloo - the Admiralty is a bit pricey, Gordons (embankment) is a wine bar - the RFH? (Bit cavernous). Just over the bridge a bit there's the Chandos and the Marquis of Granby... one could meet there having gone from Victoria to Embankment and then walk to Waterloo...

Well Waterloo is pretty damn close to London Bridge (not to push a point or anything) Stage Door is alright and I'm pretty sure I've been there at the weekend and it wasn't that busy (birthplace of the Monkey bear).

There's another one in Victoria that's alright but I can't remember the name, it's round to the left down a road opposite the hotel. Yeah that one.

It's called The Victoria, imagine that.

The Stage Door is a good pub - especially for watching the Rugby in - not sure if we are likely to get seats for everyone there tho... The White Hart on Corwall rd (or street, i forget) near Waterloo is usually pretty quiet and empty... And the Wellington is huge...

So many pubs to choose from. A Saturday night pub-crawl then?

Sorry this is late, but would it be really inconvenient and annoying of me to suggest Friday night instead? I can do Saturday but it's a little more complicated...

Either evening is fine by me. What about everyone else?

Friday is good for me, just have to pop on the bus over the bridge and there.

Can also get the train straight home from there, so yeah! Rock the Hell on...

'It's friday, I'm in love' - damn, i've free-associated my way into quoting Cure lyrics...

If we're meeting on Friday - I am probably getting to London sometime in the afternoon and then wandering around an art gallery (if anyone wants to join me, let me know!). I shall have to leave from Victoria station afterwards.

Victoria is where I'm working currently, so we could meet somewhere round here tomorrow night - I think Haus knows some pubs...

Dude he mentions some up above...

Cool Victoria/Tomorrow - around 6 by a pub chosen by Haus - go for it...

Jesucristo - a pub in Victoria on a Friday evening. Nice work, international playboys. This could be my greatest challenge yet.

Um.

All the usual places will be packed rotten, and the Wine Vaults only serves Bitburger and, you know, wine. So...

I suggest.... the Cardinal. On the grounds that it is the only place I can think of where none of us are likely to get into a fight that might have any seats at all. Except maybe the Willow Walk, and really just no.

The Cardinal is a Sam Smith's with a smell of grandpa, on Francis Street - basically, walk down Vauxhall Bridge Road, and Francis Street is on your left at the traffic light pedestrian crossing. then go down Francis Street and it is on your right.

Map here. It's not a classic, and it's not very cool or hip, but it may be our best bet for space...

Oh God. Sorry, I am awkward scum, but unless there's anyone who can only make Friday, maybe Saturday would be better - I may be too exhausted tomorrow night to be much fun, and it looks like my family obligations may be wrapped up fairly early on Saturday evening.

I'm still okay for either, but will need to know by lunchtime today.

I honestly don't mind - would probably make tonight, less likely to make tomorrow but still possible....

I was looking forward to Friday crinking as that the leaves me the usual 2 days hangover to hang about my house feeling sorry for myself. But either is good, still I wouldn't mind going out tonight if anyone is up for it - no reason I can't go out twice.

Regrettable Juvenilia

Oh, I don't know now. Maybe tonight would be good. I'm not that tired after all...

You're coming the bag!

Tonight then at the Cardinal?

Regrettable Juvenilia

Yeah, okay. I have to shake Haus' hand in honour of that "abseiling Natalie Portman" thing, so Cardinal from... 6? 6.30?

Sounds like a definite plan. I shall even remember the video tape.

And it looks like I am not busy tomorrow after all, unless I happen to blag a ticket for Lambchop. But I can't get to Victoria tonight. Grr.

(apologies if I double post this)

Was cool to meet you all, although I was not entirely sure that Elvis impersonators and the police were strictly necessary. They were indeed beautiful gloves though.
