Splendid programme. If you liked Wife Swap, and the Kiddie Boot Camp thing (I forget the name) you're just gonna lurve this one.
Ganesh, what's the story? This is your territory and no mistake.
First episode : Millionaire Yorkshireman (and, oh, what a Yorkshireman) real estate mogul has only child : No. 1 son!
Mum of son leaves when boy is aged 2, step-mum raises boy as her own kith and kin.
Dad and step-mum have BIG hopes for no. 1 son. He will take over the fathers business after they spend many long years as partners, cos he loves his Daddy, yes he does.
Daddy and Bio-Mum argue a lot over custody. Little No.1 Son is physically (literally) torn between the two on many occasions. Much hatred is in the air. Boy does not understand. Why don't mummy and daddy love each other?
Flash forward. Boy has been married to Japanese woman after dropping out of college and buggering off to Japan. Dad and Mum have not seen boy since he fled the country 3 years previously. Boy is great disappointment to Dad. He is not at all interested in being a real estate developer.
So, Dad and Stepmum get in the 100k Merc, and travel to meet Number 1 son...
...Who (much to their, er, surprise and alarm) now lives in a TeePee on Farmer Giles land, doesn't wear shoes, has rags for clothes and wishes, more than anything, to get a horsebox to live in and be a professional juggler, earning his keep by "doing the festival circuit".
Dad and Mum are less then amused. Dad is NOT proud. The fun begins in earnest.
Did anyone else watch this? What the FUCK was the scenario with the Dutch girl ferried over to, er, amuse No. 1 son? Was she a lady of ill repute? It was really hastily bundled through the edit, but the overriding impression was that Millionaire Dad had met Dutch Delight on holiday, and 'persuaded' her that his son was The Man For Her, and covered all expenses to bring her to Blighty for The Meeting.
I just love the fact that, after all the fireworks, Son and Dutch Delight buggered off to Amsterdam together, presumably to get very wasted indeed.
Absolute quality Reality TV, hurrah. |
