black double knee carharts.

carhart has decent labor policies.

they're god damn near indestructible, and punk as fuck. i've been wearing the same pair just about every time i haven't been wearing shorts for two years now.

As a tall chap I often find it difficult to find a pair of non-swinging jeans that hang rigth about the waist. For the easy option it's Gap as they seemed to be fine, but last year I bought the usual pair that I always do, and then found that I had to roll the bottoms up some ridiculous length. Got a pair of loose Diesels that fit well. BUt at the moment I'm going through one of my non-jeans periods, so the herring-bone trousers are getting a good airing.

Blue. Not black, never white.

When younger I went through a stage where I had 3 pairs of jeans, blue (like really blue not denim blue), green and red, and matching tops. Really, really bad.

Are denim dungarees ok, i tried a pair on yesterday & i quite liked them but i don't want to look like forest gump. They were very pale denim, almost snow washed. What do you reckon?

Are they cool?

they sound pretty cool. the reason i love dungars (sorry, threadrot, i know we should only talk about denim in this thread! sorry !!)so much is that you can wear a big fisherman jumper and it just looks like you're wearing jeans!! alternatively, for when you're in the club, you can take the jumper off and undo one of the shoulder straps, the way the dungars move a bit more loose against your body looks really hot and sexy when you're giving it some. i'm not sure i'd ever go as far as the rapper c'am'ron's dungar-luv (i.e. plether dungars!!), but i do like to wear denim ones, snow washed, stonewashed, acid-etched, anything!!

Yes snow-washed dungarees might be ok in a dance club, but anywhere else and you're asking for trouble.

But what's wrong with white jeans ? George Morrison wears white jeans, white jeans are cool.

Oh my god, this thread has put my fashion sense in traction. Not that I'm Class Best Dressed or anything, but snow-washed? Dungarees? This must be a UK-US culture clash or something.

Jeans should be bluejeans, anywhere from dark to "broken-in," but nothing any lighter. Except for white, which is fine on girls and on guys with enough style to pull them off. The main criterion for well-fitting jeans is that they make your ass look good, as everyone darn well knows. And dungarees - I'm assuming is the equivalent of the US 'overalls' - should never be worn by anyone over age six, unless you're a pregnant woman.

Ibis you are wrong on the dungaree thing- I fucking love wearing my dungers, most of us do over here. Its weird isn't it on how Europe is so different in the fashion stakes from the states, its not a grunge thing or anything- more a Jacko from Brush strokes thing.

Harrison get the dungers and do Jacko proud. On the colour front- for dungerees the paler the better, but watch for spills. stains will piss you off and render them unwearable.

Good luck dude.

Billy Jack Kicking Jeans! I'm not even sure they ever came out. I know Chuck Norris put out a line of Kicking Jeans, but can you imagine the sheer L337N355 of just going berzerk in your Billy Jack Kicking Jeans? And the hat, natch.

i used to see the chuck norris jeans advertised in the window of the short-lived kung-fu shop at the top of the town. they had an extra bit stitched in the crotch for kick-freedom. i coveted them, but was too scared to ask mum to go into the shop and get me some. i just don't reckon she would have gone for it. bloody pacifists.

That will be true when Greg Morrison, wearing his white jeans, appears in a Bodyform advert.

ph#@r my jeans knowledge, people.

The hot new denim innovation is the "square top block". This is a total must have (mostly for men, but the women's one is okay too).

Basically, regular jeans curve inward a little bit from the hips to the waist. So if you want them to sit low, you have to buy them a size up from your actual size, as most of us have been doing for years. However, this means a certain amount of undesirable bagginess around the ass and at the sides, which can lead to the impression of childbearing hips.

The square top block avoids this by making the jeans drop in a straight line from waist to hip, and shortening the distance between crotch and waistband.

So you can wear them low, but have them fall straight down from the waistband, giving a clean, sharp look to the hip area. This will make you look HOTT.

I'm gradually moving away from baggy jeans to jeans which are as slim cut as they can be without actually being tight anywhere.

I find the best way to get a nice finish on your jeans is to buy the dark ones and then wear them hard for several months without washing them. This makes the denim go really nice and soft, and gives sharp relief on the wear. Then just wash them as often as you'd wash any pair of jeans and they fade really nicely.

Brand-wise, you really only want to be seen in Levi's, anything else is try-hard or shabby.

{the above post is brought to you courtesy of my having spent a good portion of the last year listening to japanese denim obsessives talk about jeans}

beerlaces, those square block tops sound really nice. Though I'm normal-weight and generally well-proportioned, my waist doesn't nip in much from my hips, so I usually have to go for an uncomfortable & ugly waistband cutting into my low-waist-area, or the baggy butt/thighs. And the latter option is a crying shame, since my ass is one of my best features.

Jeans: Loose fit denim with turn-ups. I'm short so tight jeans would just look CRAZYNESS WEIRD.

I'm afraid you're wrong about this one. As a fellow short person who constantly reads short-person fashion tips, I can tell you that tighter (or fitted) jeans will make you look taller than loose fit will. And cuffs (same as turn-ups, no?) make short folk look shorter too.

Is it bad if your jeans are so tight that your balls show?

Or is this sexy?

Well, it'll make your balls look taller, soo... I'd go with 'sexy.'

Wellll, dungarees are in again. Wear them with the top bit hanging down. Kinda cool, but are very baggy so you straight cut people will not like them. And I sort of expect them to appear too much, as popularity increases.

I work in a major fashion retail brand in the UK, and a lot of our jeans are of the worn looking variety. Holes and cuts are cool, but I think they look better when done yourself.

I took a metal foot scrubber to a pair of dark blue jeans and rubbed. The effect is worn away areas, and if u fold the jeans and rub the rib then u can create lines. Fun for old jeans.

My main problem is getting jeans long enough. The 34" inside legs we sell in our shop, often have to be worn around the pubic area, as to not float above my shoes. Those box cut jeans descibed earlier sound good for that problem.

Was gonna start a new thread, but remembered about this one and it seems like the most appropriate place to post:

Denim shorts for men, what's your vibe?

I found an old pair when cleaning out my flat & havn't worn them for ages, are they a NO NO or a LET'S GO!?

I don't have an opinion on shorts made from a denim material exactly but...
What kind of denimn are they? (light/dark?)
What length? (above knee/below?)
Pockets, many?
What would you be wearing them with?
Do you have a particular style?
Does the cut flatter you?
Do shorts flatter you in general?

Whilst the answers to Cistern's questions matter (particularly the last three) my tendency is to say NO NO NO NO NO as loud as I can. However that might be because I've never seen a good pair of denim shorts, so if they are that rarest of things I could possibly be convinced...

I would hazard: denim shorts probably bad; demin jeans which have had the lower leg cut off, probably good. Below knees is really a must, though.
