I have to say, even though I never really gave Mormonism a second thought, I'm intruiged by Allred, who's never struck me as a kook or anything, doing a comic of the Book of Mormon. The part of me that loves unexplained phenomenon, mysticism and magick-y fringe stuff is kinda fascinated at how the whole finding of the Book sounds like a UFO/angels/spirit encounter, but I don't know too much about it. I like Allred's art - wasn't intruiged enough to buy the book, but tried to skim the "I was a skeptic too" essay by Allred in the back. He says something like "This book has to be real, because when it was written, society didn't know much about the ancient Egyptians and the book is full of detail which historians later found out was true about Egypt." I'm not sure if this should really be under comics or the Temple, but figured I'd take a shot at it here.

Thoughts?

This sounds amazing. Who's publishing it? Is it old or new?

It was a bit boring and hard to follow, but Allred's art looked pretty good. The coloring was great too. I think his wife was the colorist...

well, that part's kind of a load of horseshit. all of Joseph Smith Egyptian stuff has been pretty thoroughly refuted by actual Egyptologists.

still interested in reading it, though.

I have an uncle who's a reformed, recovering, some less-than-adherent form of Mormon; I may have to get him this. If only because Allred is just so awesome. I hadn't realized he was Mormon before now, though I suppose it makes sense: there's a scene in Red Rocket 7 where 7 has a "bad trip" just from smoking some weed with the Beatles and Dylan.
