Thought this thread might as well be used to talk about Osirus: The Official Mixtape, which I know some people here have heard. It's basically an ODB album by any other name, but I quite approve of them sticking that "mixtape" bit on there as a way of indicating (however awkwardly) that it's not a proper, finished ODB studio album.
It is, however, remarkably consistent - maybe less remarkable if you consider how erratic he was in life, so his output so far has always been a bit all over the place - but really, this is surprisingly good. Some great party tracks, obviously, like 'Dirty Dirty' and 'Go Go Go', but there are also a few surprises - 'Move Back', in particular, is a cold-as-ice, nihilistic masterpiece produced by Dame Grease and featuring about 100 different MCs before Dirty comes in - not "resistence" [sic] hip hop but bloody good hip hop. |
