w00t! Thanks to Jack the Bodiless for tipping me off that this was coming out- I had no idea.

It's mostly covers- there are two original tracks, Passive (13th Step-type APC goth/metal) and Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums- quite a radical industrial remix of Lullaby from 13th Step.

The rest are covers, all vaguely thematically linked as "protest songs". I guess this is APC's anti-war album, and I gotta admit there's something cool about the way they've done all the totally kick-ass covers of songs about peace. The high point for me is their take on Lennon's "Imagine"- still very low-key, but a lot more sinister than you'd imagine. They also do a totally fucked-up take on Depeche Mode's People Are People, Joni Mitchell's Fiddle And The Drum, and Marvin Gaye's What's Going On.
Musically they're at the top of their game (a phrase I've never understood but it seemed to fit) and getting further and further away from the lazy comparisons with Tool.
Anyone else heard this yet?

No, not yet - I can't afford it. Which is annoying. Hopefully at the end of the month.

Glad you like it, though - that must mean it's good...

That's not always the case... (and yes, if I get round to sending you the CDs I promised I'll add that one too!)

Fantastic disc.

You can watch the likely-not-to-be-aired video for "Imagine" from the "News" (Oct 4) section of their website, and you can watch the flash video for "Counting Bodies Like Sheep To The Rhythm Of The War Drums" (A remix of 'Pet', not 'Lullaby' as originally reported) here.

Again, fantastic disc.

Cheers for the links!

Yeah, my bad. I always think of "Lullaby" as being Jarboe's nice intro to "Pet", rather than a track in its own right, and the titles get mixed up.

I'd just like to add that, as with the previous two APC albums, the first time I heard it I thought it was fucking fantastic. On further listens it gets better. Much better.
