I just resigned

Bloody hell. I'm not normally a 'throw it all up in the air' kind of risk taker, but I've hated this job from the very start, six tedious months ago. Principally, but not only, because of getting up at 5am. I'm on three month's notice, so that gives me a bit of breathing space.
Hurrrrrayy!!! I'm off now to ride my bike up a hill and then jump up and down excitedly. And yes, a little nervously.

Oddly enough i spotted a job vacency in the paper the other week that i thought was just up your street... but didn't look into it so have no idea if its doable in your present local - anyhoo - congrats.

Nice work, ace.

I wish my inclination to resign from crappy jobs had won the race against my tendancy to get fired from the a couple of times.

Good for you. Nothing beats that feeling of freedom you get when jacking in a shit job.

God, I just feel so good. My shoulders have unknotted for the first time in months. I'm sure they'll get tense again when job hunting kicks in properly, but it definitely feels like the right decision.

I did the same thing back in February and I'm still gloating. Good for you, and congratulations.

So you didn't do the same thing in february and are not now lying in the gutter with little idea of where your next can of special brew is coming from....

Come back to London, cooooooooome baaaaaaack to Looooondoooooon!

Seriously, it's a shame that what I seem to remember you thought would be an ace job didn't work out, but congrats for having the courage to tell them to stick it.

No, no stay in scotland until I've visited you and THEN come back to London...

Don't worry, I'm staying in Bonnie Scotland. Loomis can find his true masculine role as a provider and I'll practise scone-making.
But no, it shouldn't take long to find something. I hope!

Ariadne

I did, in fact, make scones yesterday and Loomis ate five. That's pretty good going. Maybe I'll start a vegan scone business.

I can't wait to start enjoying the moral high ground. I didn't do the washing up? Hey, you quit your job! I should get off the couch? Hey, you're unemployed! I can see this working out a treat.

And yes, scones are a far mroe valuable currency in our house than money.

aaahhh, scone making. The second oldest profession.
Well done, chuck! I can see how the dark side of the building (the one where you deal with local news for local people) could be depressing. Me, I'm still trying to convince myself that it matters when I correct the fashion editor's misuse of schizophrenic every week. Hell, I'm getting paid. So, party on the 8th February?

Well done hon. You've been so unhappy with that situation, so good on you for making a start on the path back to happiness. Sending good luck job vibes your way!

Well done mate - you should freelance for a bit - you've certainly had quite a diverse bag of experience in your (albeit quite short) journalism life - you'd be quite sorted for it.
Actually, I'm always going on about this - that everyone should try and become a freelance something-or-other. We all need to escape from this work culture and start living our fucking lives for ourselves a bit blah blah blah ("ere - pass that Special Brew you")

Ariadne
11:52 / 09.11.04
who are you calling quite short?

Well, yes, I might - I'm a bit of a fearty and like a salary coming in, but I'll certainly try to do some freelance work if there's any gap between this one ending and the next whatever-it-is starting. I've just been sitting here dreaming of setting up some sort of business, making scones and delivering them by bike. Or making clothes and selling them on Ebay.

Yep, another resignation.

As all you keen Boboss-watchers may have noted, I've been hating my job for a good long time. Well, today I finally got around to resigning. I've got nothing to go to as yet, but my CV's looking rosier these days and I'm going to get a full month of holiday pay, add that to a two month notice period and I've got three months to find a new job.

Plans are in place to help me stay sane over the coming weeks. I'm taking a ten day holiday at the end of the month, and psychologically I'm feeling sooo much better.

Future-ho!

Congratulations!

Well done - it turned out to be a good move for me and I'm sure it will be for you, too.

(It was quite spooky to see this reappear, I wondered if I'd resigned yet again. I'm getting quite practiced at it.)

So what happened to the idea of delivering scones by bike, Ariadne? I could really go a couple of scones about now.

Congratulations boboss. I'm sure you've made the right decision. Life's too short, yadda yadda.

LOL, Ariadne, and thankew, guys.

I can't escape the weird abstract thought that I'm actually punishing my job by resigning. And it feels good.

Also, just had a long chat with my old boss. She's given me all kinds of advice and useful contacts. Apparently she'd love me to come and work in her team.
