Well, if he is a TOTAL con-man, you can imagine the kinds of things he might need to do to find out some of the info he throws out. He may have techniques I don't know about (I not a con-man, myself, so I'm sure there are a lot of these), but he may have spy equipment looking in on his guests lives. If that were the case, then I'm not sure I like the idea of saying, "well, he comforts a lot of people." I might not mind if he just picked off info that was public record anyway, but he can be pretty specific with the validations.
But that's not even the big issue for me. It's not that I want to punish this guy. It's that I DO care about the truth. It's not that I care whether there is an afterlife or not. It's that, if there's any reasonable way to determine one way or the the other, then we by God better do it. <--- I don't mean that as a justifiable statement. It's just the way I feel. Maybe very silly of me, but, you know. It's just sitting there. And most of the people I know just shrug it off, while the others just accept that communicating with the dead is kind of a cool thing. |
