Kabbalah - Gershom Scholem

Hi

I'm starting "Major trends in jewish mysticism" (Gershom Scholem). It seems it's going to be a hard one to chew, but I wanted the "orthodox" approach before starting practical work. I'm not jewish, but the major kabbalistic points do a lot of sense for me (coming from a hard science background and all that). So this is mainly for asking any comments about that work. I expect to get some insights from it, as I like the open-minded point of view it takes (ex. addesses Waite as a major christian mystic, with some limited knowledge about kabbalah but a fairly head-on approach).

Well, that's it. I know it's kinda light for this political weeks, but I needed some relief from bush-bashing (though he deserves all he can get)...

thanks in advance

Zheng, I've not read Scholem's work. But I'm fairly versed in Kabbalah and would be happy to discuss any of the points you come across in his text.

I have an (unread)copy of Scholem's other, shorter work. Damnit, what's it called! I say, good on you for doing some research. From my brief and cursory knowledge of the subject, I'd say expect it too be very, very different from the Western mystery trad.
