Magic for appetite?

I was recently struck down by a mystery illness which left me weighing 7 stone 2 lbs - 45 kilos. At almost 30 years old, this is clearly undesirable. And until we find out what it is that has left me appetiteless and frail, I might try some magic.

Can anybody suggest gods to invoke, or possible items to be included in a charm/ritual/talisman to help me gain weight and increase my appetite? Bacchus is a possibility, if only he knew when to stop.

Also suggestions of a more earthly type welcomed!

Well, good ol earthy cannabis often does the trick. I trust you're seeing a qualified doctor as well...? Bacchus was certainly my first thought, though I 'spect there are some Norse deities that would fill the bill. They're a pretty hearty stock. Perhaps some of the Scandiphiles round here will chime in...

My uncle has problems with very low weight. He has had some success in eating fruit on a daily basis.
Of course, if the problem is a complete lack of appetite that won't help.

Maybe this thread will be of help: Gods of Hunger

Some kungfu can help. It did for me. You'll start inhaling food after a good session

Hmmm I dunno - Behemoth??? Fuck knows start smoking ganja if you can get into it!!! Just eat more but eat a balanced diet!!! Use this method - visualise yourself in the mirror at the weight that you want to get to and take it from there. Metabolism is a wierd one innit. Goto a health food shop I suppose. Gods for eating never researched that one.

What about Ganesh? Not only does he break down obstacles, an Elephant might be a nice image to focus on for weight gain.

On the practical side:

First, see a doctor if you haven't already. He or she probably can give better practical advice than anyone here. At the very least, see a nutritionist.

Next, bodybuilding books and websites often provide nutrition plans that will help you gain weight. These should be easy to find, but look for something that seems at least fairly reputable. Combine the plan with some sensible exercise to help you gain muscle rather than fat.

Finally, if you can't seem to gain weight through a healthy diet and exercise, consider using weight gain powders. You can find these in most health food and nutritional supplement stores. About twelve years ago I used these (along with a sane exercise plan) to go from 135 to 170 pounds in a summer.

Thanks for the sober advice, guys. I have seen a doctor, but due to the state of the Health Service at the moment, it'll be March before I get to see a specialist. So I'm on my own 'till then, and the Scottish winter encroaches...

I'm trying those bodybuilder shakes just now, and eating as much as I physically can. Daily fruit is a good idea. I smoke a heroic amount of hash/grass as it is, so that's not the problem!

Ganesh is a great idea, though. He likes offerings of sweets!

I was considering a charm - what ingredients would you suggest?
