Does any one know which issues of Cut Magazine the ‘New Adventures of Adolf Hitler’ originally appeared in?

Dunno about Cut, but it was reprinted in issues 46-49 of CRISIS.

I’ve got the Crisis issues, but maybe able to get the original black n’ white version of the story (well, what was published) if I can find out the issue numbers.

Wasn’t the run in Cut curtailed because of the editor (Pat Kane of popular beat combo Hue and Cry, now a music journalist if memory serves) resigning in protest ?
I think it might have been something to do with the content. Maybe the fact that it wasn’t him singing in the wardrobe or something.

No, Pat Kane resigned before the strip even started in CUT, and without even seeing an advance preview; apparently the title was enough for him. I've a feeling CUT itself might've hit the skids before the conclusion.

Ah, right. Sorry for the red herring. Cheers, Ganesh.

funny to see nobody seems to want to reprint it, even if the book itself is less scandalous than the title.
And a lot less than the Hitler TV miniseries starring Robert Carlyle.
"Robert Carlyle is... Adolf Hitler !"
excellent.

The Phuz,

The strip appeared in the July , August & September 1989 issues at which point the magazine folded.

There's some other interesting stuff in there - an exract from GM's synopsis, Pat Kane's essay on why he's leaving the magazine due to the strip being published, and GM's 'right to reply' to Kane's comments.

Yup, GM's "right to reply" thingy was classic... as I recall, it was a fairly (probably very, but it was a long time ago, so I may have remembered it being better than it was) well-reasoned piece about satire, finishing with the line "Pat Kane- fuck off and die."

Among my favourite of George's writings (and no, I'm not taking the piss).

Cheers Malio – you don’t know what the issue numbers were?

Also the July 1989 issue has a Brendan McCarthy interview which I’m after for my website (oh so subtle plug there):

brendanmccarthy.co.uk

If there’s a generous soul who’d like to scan it for me (in case I can’t get the issues), get in touch.

Cheers
