Lunar Eclipse on the 27th

Mark your calendars! This month's full moon will also feature a total lunar eclipse, visible from North and South America and most of Europe.

I'm sure this will be covered by tv and radio the day it happens, but for those of you who want to make plans for when the moon turns orange (four days before Halloween!) Here's a heads up.

It's also the last full moon before E-day, for anyone doing Kerry/Bush workings. That's gotta mean something!

In the US, the eclipse will start at around 9:15 EDT.

Indeed, thanks. We've been on a roll for such things, and if the sheer physicality of the "Autumn crackle" this cycle is any indication, that roll is building up speed.

"It's gonna be a dark, dark, dark...dark spooky night..."

Other people are getting that weird crackly thing in the air? I thought it was just me...

Lunar eclipse ahoy! I wasn't able to see the last one... (please let it be a clear night, please let it be a clear night...)

Totality (when the moon will be completely in the earth's shadow) will begin at 10:23 EDT and last for 80 minutes. That's a nice, long time in which to get a lot accomplished!

Less than an hour to go before it starts. What general sort of stuff are people planning?

At what time does this happen exactly? I'm on the US east coast.

So how was it? How were your workings?
And on a more mundane note, how cool did it look?

Er. I'm confuzzled. Isn't this happening tonight, not last night?

I hope so, because otherwise I missed it entirely. Not to mention it was raining.

I'm pretty sure it's tonight here in Texas, but we do tend to do things however we want...

It's also possible that I have no idea what day today is, let alone when the planets will align a special way.

I'm sure it's tonight here in Miami.

Also if anyone can suggest any moonlit rituals to Thoth that would be great. If not it'll be an improv.

One question? How can this eclipse affect a coupkle that is getting married on Saturday?

Okay. Well, that was nifty and all. But I just had a very weird experience with Artemis. Anyone else experience anything?

Um, yeah, but....

I thought I heard the Moon scream, a little past totality (maybe 8:15 Pacific time). This happened with a visual of a slight elongation down and to my left.

The but... is that I'm a bit altered... my hands are a loooong way away and the Moon was so very close...

More later, when the Moon has emerged fully from shadows.

It was pretty cool.

The only really weird thing I noticed was that there was an area of sky around the moon, during totality, that looked oddly dark and not-sky-like. I don't know how to describe it. Sort of oblong, at a diagonal angle. Dark and... smooth?...

I couldn't figure it out. I don't think it was part of the penumbra, but I'm no astronomer...

Did the strange bit of sky look at all like John Kerry?

Really, I felt the eclipse as a heavy darkness that covered the Republican figures in the collage I had made. The heavy darkness was the shadow that democracy cast over the false light of superficial "right," and looming over all...stood justice.

Curiously, since this morning, instead of really annoying me, seeing Bush/Cheney signs and bumper stickers now makes me smile--Alot.
