Does anyone remember these? They were British black and white reprints of old horror/science fiction stories from Marvel and (I think) DC as well as some other stuff from Charlton, Atlas etc, which were certainly around in the Seventies and possibly early Eighties.

They were squarebound and larger than normal US comics, and they always give me a warm glow of nostalgia - I invariably bought them on seaside holidays, for some reason.

Anyone know much about the company? When did they stop producing them? Anyone else used to buy them?

i think I remember the books you mean and i also associate them with holidays. never saw them in regular newsagents only in Wales and places like that. They had ant-man and daredevil. definately early 70's. also books like weird war tales in abundance but never the more popular stuff. So car sickness weird war and those hybrid books you mention are a viviid recollection for me.

Oh yeah, I remember those very well.

I'd buy the odd one for summer holiday car rides like you lot and also if I was desparate becuase there were no new Marvel or DC titles.

Titles I remember:

Suspense (had superhero reprints I think)
Sinister Tales
Creepy Worlds
Secrets of the Unknown
Uncanny Tales
Astounding Stories.

They were 5p when I first saw them. Rising to 25p by 1980.
