The Poetry of Donald Rumsfeld, as covered by NPR's Morning Edition, and this article.
I wish this had been done by Philip Glass.
I have several thoughts about this weirdness, some of which belong in Head Shop, some in Creation, some in Switchboard, and some in Temple. But it's music of a sort so I put it here. Some of these thoughts are— Does Rummy have a right to his words? He's a public figure, but would we have sympathy for, say, a less detestable public figure whose words were used in art without teir permission, possibly in a way which makes ta seem laughable? Is this poetry or idiocy— is the art created by Rummy, or by the composer who found his words artistic? How would you improve this attempt? (I'm thinking using the actual audio clips, manipulating them to produce harmonic progressions, and layering them, probably using the notion of tinntinnabulation which I've heard in the works of Philip Glass and Arvo Part, but surely some of the actual musicians here have better ideas.) Could you enchant at Rummy using the music, or would that target the composer? Similarly, could you meditate to this, or would that open you up to possession by evil?
Is this worth discussion, or is it pointless tripe? |
