Magick is using and training your Mind, Body, Awareness, and Intuition so that you can live a better life and come to a better understanding of yourself and the world/universe around you. It's not something that can just be explained though, it has to be experienced aswell.

I may aswell link you here to the links i've been collecting if your wanting to search around on the net, if you want books, well you'll have to ask someone else and post back with what exactly it is your interested in because Magick covers a lot of areas.

We need a newbie Magick thread to link people to, i was thinking of starting one the other day aswell. Like a FAQ for beginners. Maybe there's one already here somewhere.

I'd add "being more attuned to, or in harmony with, the universe/your surroundings", but of course, we could keep adding words ad mortem and never really manage to grasp the very essence...

Yes, it has to be experienced. It's not so difficult if you know where and for what to look; many if not all "normal" activities have a magical aspect to them - some more than others, e.g. sex, cooking, martial arts, any creative (artistic?) endaveour, walking etc. It's usually not what you get out of it, it's what you put into it (intent, awareness...).

Concerning the newbie FAQ idea - perhaps a small wiki would be better suited for this than a linear thread? (I'm just sorta fascinated by wikis right now, and it would be... interesting, at the very least )

there were three replies, to this post, and now there are two. Is this some sort of magick trick?

It's an invisible post.

And yeah, what exactly are you into? If it's Chaos. I'd suggest Condensed Chaos and Prime Chaos by Phil Hine.

No, I like order, at least more than I like chaos.

He's talking about "chaos magic" which, broadly, is so-called because it looks at magic in terms of things like chaos theory and quantum mechanics.

Ha!

The missing post your referring to was one of mine, i was going on about a mistake i made in my first post in this thread, then when it had been sorted out i requested to have it deleted.

Either that or it was one of our Temple tricks that we'll teach you sometime, but only if your nice to us.

There's alreadya wiki run by Barbelith's own elseware. You can find SourceryForge here. It already has some excellent contributions from some of the Temple forum regulars, but like any wiki it's only as good as the quality of the work that people invest in it. Could be the best resource online with a bit of TLC...

Depends. It's complicated. Why do you want to be here? No offence like, but magic's a big subject. All human life is here. Tell us what you're looking for and we'll help. Probably.

Don't ask about chaos magic though. No-one talks about that any more.
