Psychics -- Who has good stories to share?

I don't know about you all, but I've always been fascinated with the notion of psychic phenomena. I've gone to three psychics in my life, all in NYC, all of whom seemed kind of bogus. I was always waiting for them to tell me something they couldn't POSSIBLY have known, or something that was beyond a totally general evaluation of your personality, life, etc. -- the kind of stuff that you see in really general, really lame horoscopes in nationally syndicated cartoon pages.

This may not be EXACTLY "magic", but I'd say it fits under the topic in an umbrella sense.

So does anyone have any experiences with psychics that you felt were genuine? Michael Critchton's fantastic autobiography, published back in the early 80s, I think, called TRAVELS, deals with his encounters with the paranormal. And for a man who is so rational and skeptical and scientific, he basically comes to the conclusion by the end of the book that there is really something to all this stuff that warrants real investigation.

During the book he relates his experiences of aura reading, astral projection, mediums and channeling entities, encountering a tree spirit while on a retreat, and more. It's highly recommended.

So -- who's got stories?

I've got a friend who's a kick-ass dowser. He's very good at finding the locations of physical items and people and has occasionally offered his services to law enforcement (with varying degrees of success). It's pretty cool to see him work.

My personal current working theory regarding 'psychic' stuff is that I look at psychic abilities as the raw abilities that are utilized in 'magic' and the techniques of magic being the way that we can unlock and utilize those abilities.

Those people that are PSYCHIC without having to do all the ritual stuff are just so talented that those aspects come easy for them.

Of course, that theory may change at any moment.

There are ways to approach psionics through magic. One of the ways is the idea that all the answers to your mental self-questioning will appear in your environment.Sometimes I know how something will turn out because as I think about it,an answer appears in some symbolic form from the world around me.You can learn to read the tarot,or you can learn to directly read the reality that the tarot is representative of.(and run the risk of self-deception).I agree with LT,that magic and psionics overlap to quite a large degree.
I am an artist, and I often find my work appears to me out of nature all the time, which is damned annoying when you're trying to be original!
When I 'went out' ,and backwards down through my bed and into a floaty red place,I asked about this to something that called me 'kobol strom',and they said that art was an imitation of nature. If this is true, then perhaps the drawings are more like echoes from my own experience, distorted and in flux.
But they contain either :
1 predictive elements ,that my mind has generated from the unconsciousness.
2 a code for a magical act, which changes reality conforming to will.
3 part of a large pattern whose design is imperceptible but whose coherence and oneness is sometimes glimpsed in the act of imitation.
4 pure, full on psychic power, baby.
