Nuts. I had hoped that post would be read as a mischievous rather than serious rant. Obviously this was not the case, and I suck worse than the last Star Trek film. My bad. What's the Ben Crouch like? Where it at?

(And Lilly, I think Stokey's a lost cause this time, you might like to start your own thread for a Stokey meet, I'm not adverse, it's just I thought the complaint was we go to pubs in North London too much compared to South)

Ben Crouch is a goth pub that is, like most goth pubs, largely empty during daylight hours.

Not been there on a sunday but its relatively spacious and has acommodated large groups more than adequately on saturday afternoons.

Lady, I read Stoaties a lost cause... which he isn't. I did already bow out so don't push. New thread coming soon.

I'm totally uncommitted to alcohol. Can we not go for tea and cake at Patisserie Valerie's in Soho instead? They do milkshakes.

Ooo! Tea at Fortnum and Mason!

I would suggest going to a brewery but I get the impression we'd find it hard organising a pissup there.

I'm up for wherever... this Ben Crouch place sounds kind of fun, but never having been there, I don't really mind.

Wells Street is on the opposite side of the road to Marks and Spencer before you get to Oxford Circus heading from the direction of Tottenham Court Road.

I've never been to Fortnum and Mason.

Lilly, I said STOKEY, not Stoatie. And it was just meant as a friendly suggestion.

I feel like I shouldn't have got out of bed this morning but Ganesh ALWAYS steals the duvet with his trunk...

I am trying to get them to rename Stokey, you know.

Yes I know you said Stokey; but I can't read early in the morning. Stoatie, do you want them to rename Stokey or do you want to be renamed? Do you know what? This thread makes me want a drink. What say we all meet up in Central London at the Ben Crouch on Well Street, Sunday October 3rd at around 3pm?
How bout that guys?
How bout it?
Day, time, place, sorted.
See you there.
No bells.

Yes! YES! Thank you Lilly! And the imaginary voices in my head (because I'm schizophrenic donchaknow?) said it couldn't be done! I'll buy you a drink for ending the dithering. Now I'm going to watch my Shaun of the Dead DVD. See you there.

ummm, after I sorted all that out for you guys, I find I have to work to make the world look better.

But please, go and have a lovely time and think of me fondly.

And Lilly discovers, as many have before her, that the only way to get Barbefolks to agree to a pub-drink-up is to STATE A PUB AND A DATE AND A TIME and leave it people to turn up or not.

And I wish I could be there.

I was there, without even having had the benefit of reading this thread before hand!

And Haus, I actually put "Have a cream tea at Fortnums or the Ritz" on my list of 104 things to do in 2004 ('cos 2004 things would just be unwieldy!), but ended up compromising with a cream tea at Thorpness, instead (which was just like one of the villages from The Avengers). So, I am totally up for having another attempt at a cream tea at Fortnums or the Ritz. I doubt they'll be playing apocalyptic heavy metal there, too (which is almost a shame, in a way)
