Mink's KOTOR surgery - because yes, I am that sad.

Yes, I really am.

Okay, I think I've pretty much got the game nailed. I decline to tell you how many times I've finished it. Suffice it to say that when I was neck deep in hellish work and social disasters, I spent a certain amount of time kicking Sith/Jedi ass.

So if anyone has any questions, I'm your geek.

(No doubt there are others of you from whom even I can learn... for I have not downloaded the Xbox Live sections of the game...)

Lemon. I'm only doing this because there was some discussion in the games thread. I'm kinda embarrassed, actually.

Battle tips for taking the bridge of the Leviathan, please.
With me I have Bastila and Carth, and would like to complete it with them rather than have to backtrack a couple of hours and choose another party.

can't you party select on the leviathan?
if not, grenade the shiznit out of any opposition early.
make sure you use loadsa battle stims(all sorts are good) and that you have the best armour possible on carth. also, equip weapons that work well together for him, not ones that sound good or are his(his blaster is not always the best idea, frexample)

depending on your powers, always soften up the opposition with some choke/kills and stasis field the hell out of them. once they are stasisised, waste no time in flurrying the fuck out of them. power hits are good here too.

remeber to keep a watch on who is doing what, cancelling any retarded coices the AI makes. there is no point in hitting them weakly when it takes the same time to smack em properly.

if you have 'heal', remember to use it occasionally during the fight, and before you enter the room pump your guys full of force protection(remeber that teh speed up force power helps you hit more often as well as run fast. it also helps you move out of teh way and block blaster fire) and stims. melee shields are a good idea too.

with all that, you will be unstoppable.
piece of piss.

one question...
if you discover the tribe of the one earlier than the elders, do they become your buddies instead?
or do you have to kill their leader?

To complement toksik's advice, I would suggest that Speed is a pretty useful force power in a fight - I always use it if the fight is at all tricky - and generally I think the light and neutral powers are very underrated. Using armour, valour and stasis can make a really big difference. Fore immunity is also a must when you face the higher level dark jedi. None of this should be any issue if you are a guardian, though, since you just line up your attacks to use your jump and you'll clear it really quickly.

Apart from that...I tend to use a single jedi to do all the heals and group buffs if needed and keep the other one fighting (usually the better fighter).

errrmmm. MC is pointing out that I tend to power game on automatic, which may be an issue. So, for instance, everyone knows that your main character shouldn't go higher than level 4 (5 at most) in the first character class, right? Assuming you want your main guy to be a tank or a witch/wizard. Which you do.

You can befriend either Secret Tribe in any order. They were fun to fight, but sissies.

I mentioned this a while back, but there's a glitch in the game that lets your characters get away with performing two actions every turn. It means you can heal and attack with any one character in the same turn.

In battle, pause the game and enter the Items menu. You can now use any stat-affecting item you've got (stim packs, med packs, antidotes, etc.). Once you've done that, exit out of the menu. Now that you're back in the game screen you can use the quick command icons down the bottom of the screen to issue that character with a second command - for some reason, the game doesn't recognise a 'use item' command issued through the menu screen as being the same thing as a command (any command) issued from the main game screen. It means that you can heal every single turn and still carry on fighting.

Very cheap way to get through fights and destroys any notion of a difficulty curve if you use it constantly, but if you're having trouble at a specific point it might be the way to go.

One question:

How can I make Bastila shut the hell up?

on Bastilla: For the DoAX fans amongst us. Equip her with the dark Jedi clothes. Go out and admire. The unequip her clothes and look at the rather more, er, Anne Summers, style underwear she has on. You'll be unable to take anythnig she says seriously after that.

I was looking around for Kotor mods, and I found this page, which has a romance mod which lets you chat up the laydeez, even if you are one yourself. Carth remains resolutely hetero, however. I haven't tried it yet, but I thought I'd share.

Stoatie: I like to kick off any major engagement with a number of grenades. Target the Admiral and the Dark Jedi. It depends a little on what weapons your characters are using: I tend to end up with most of them trained to use hand-to-hand as primary, so basically, you speed, strength, shield, force valour your characters as far as you can, lob the grenades, and then throw Carth at Saul (Carth's vibroswords or whatever won't be affected by Saul's high-end shield) and send the Jedi after the Dark Jedi, then tidy up the Sith later.

If you have Force Wave, this encounter is a doddle. That power is so useful as to be a bit of a cheat. You can just keep doing it until they all die.

If you've allowed Carth to remain a pistolier (shame on you) you can take out the Sith by the doorway A.S.A.P., then attack Saul and the DJs with your Jedi, leaving Carth to snipe from the back. Use whatever special attacks he has - preferably multiple shot.

That all goes for pretty much any big fight.

As a matter of interest, does anyone know if Darth Bandon's amazing lightsaber is available to players in the Xbox version of the game?
