Getting Stale - ideas needed!

So I've been doing this for a few years now, like...but I've had a long summer off the magic and now that think about plunging back into things, I find myself a little bored. I cant muster the enthusiasm for all the old shit like I used to: wanking over sigils, getting possessed by entities, cursing people, blessing people, trappind demons on paper, wanking around in alternate universes with Batman and co, divining things, watching my dreams...I guess I'm just a bit jaded, that's all.

What I need is a new idea: a project involving something I've never done before, a line of magickal research I can pursue to rekindle my enthusiasm for the bread and butter aspects of magic: and that's the question I'm throwing open to you, dear Barbeloids. Do you have any ideas for new types of magickal work I can follow to keep from getting stale and slipping back into mundanity? Speak now, I pray you...

How about getting laid, in contrast to all the wanking you mention?

Seriously though, I know exactly what you mean. I feel like an old man sometimes, who prefer to silently pray in front of my altar instead of doing rash, energetic and crazy magick. So I'll be watching this thread as well.

I'd recommend something really visceral. Dancing, learning how to use your own shit, blood and urine, that kinda thing. It'll nicely get you out of trying to think things through too much.

Hmm, well. I'm getting laid quite regularly these days thakyouverymuch; and I doubt my girlfriend would be happy for me to do anything involved with playing with my own shit. Funnily enough, though, I did find myself thinking about dancing on the way back from town today...

Well, what is the "bread and butter" of magick to you? If you look at the "meat" of magick, what you see as the core of it, you might find a bit of inspiration.

As an alternative, what about magick scares the pants off you? Where is the juice in it? If nothing scares you, the fix to the problem might be to dig deeper and really listen for that little trill of uncertainty and trepidation.

The last suggestion I have is to do a divination - ask what you need to learn next. If you do that, though, be prepared to take the answers vewy vewy sewiously....

Invoke Optimus Prime to give you sage advice.

Yeah, but the original, G1 Prime. Not the wankery fat one from the current series.

I'm in the same boat. I, too, seem to be doing nothing more than the spiritual side of magick and maybe that's the point?
Maybe after all the sigils and possessing and cursing is gone, you're left with that spirituality that you've maybe be looking for all along?

How about research? Since you're obviously beyond the initial bit of excited exploration, maybe it's time to get into something really deep. Do something really original, start developing a brand new theory of magic, or something.

Velvet, it seems we're on opposite ends of the spectrum. As you're getting bored by seemingly repetiously recurring magickal workings/wankings, I'm only a beginner and tend to spend lots of time dreaming, theorizing and just making art instead of doing "serious" magick.

Perhaps this question may lead you down some fun alleyways of the super-conscious: "How would you define the Great Work?"... In other words, how do you intend your works to affect more than your own reality? Are you working beyond desire?... Perhaps you've grown bored of the spiritual equivalent of masturbation. Now that you've explored the depths of desire-manifesting, it could be a time to reflect upon your progress and see how to apply your talents to some cause or another?...

just jammin with ya.

How about getting into the "real" world of quantum physics and the zero point field and figuring out why the whole magical mind-fuck thing can sometimes work?

How 'bout inviting the emergent spirit of the city in
which you live out to play? Take things up a couple
of levels of scale. It's an entertaining way of undermining the political presumption of municipal governmental bodies.
