Sonic Youth (YAY!)is coming on tour to Mexico, and I ask you guys if anyone know what can I expect to hear. I suppose that most of thesongs will be taken from Sonic Nurse, but... are they like, classics that they play... like brother james, radical adults or maybe 100%?

I'd appreciate if someone could answer...

Thanx

They've always tended to concentrate heavily on their latest album when they play, so expect lots of Nurse, and both times I've seen them in recent years they've pulled out "Mote", "Drunk Butterfly" and "White Kross" as token old tunes.

I'm seeing them tomorrow in London. Yay!

Be sure to tell us (me) how it was, Riz! I saw them play in NY and now consider myself a lucky, and significantly better, human being.

They did Eric's Trip! And Teenage Riot!! And Pacific Coast Highway! And Expressway to yr. Skull!!!

It was a fuckin superb performance.. songs from the new record sounded just as immense as the old ones.. lots of extra beautiful noise whiteout too and some of the most ridiculously theatrical guitar-mangling stage moves..

Also:

I Love You Golden Blue is almost always the concert opener. Lee plays keyboards on this song, and it starts off with samplers playing part of the intro. They've gotten into the habit of following this song with Stones --> Pattern --> Unmade Bed.

Pattern Recognition always ends with an extended jam.

Teenage Riot also ends with a long feedback improv section after the song proper is over. New Hampshire usually starts as a long feedback jam is ending, seamlessly worked together. That's why NH often comes in the setlist after Teenage Riot, Karenology, or Mote.

The Burning Spear and 100% are now preceded by lengthy instrumental freakout sections. Silver Rocket and Sugar Kane's middle sections are almost always extended to include a long freeform jam.

The main set usually ends on a short, rocking song, almost always by Kim - Drunken Butterfly, Kool Thing, or Brother James, though occasionally they mix it up and end with something like 100% or Schizophrenia.

Rain On Tin is almost always played as the first song in the encore. PCH is almost always played as the second song in the encore, and includes a longer mellow middle section with Kim on trumpet.

Expressway To Yr Skull is always capped off with an extended humming instumental section that can be as long as twenty minutes.
