Make of it what you will:
I was sitting around at work today, feeling dead-tired and out of sorts. It's been a rough week. So, instead of putting my nose back on the grindstone I fired up my web browser and surfed the liberal news sites (CommonDreams, Truthout, etc.). This started me wondering: "Where is this country (the US) going? What's going to happen to us?" Rather than leave it be, I decided to tune into the hum of office conversation and try to pick out some sort of message. (I do this every once in a while and it's usually pretty effective. The floor I work on is all cubicles with plenty of air- and foot-traffic-flow. It's supposed to "enhance communication between teams and team members".) After a couple of minutes, I decided I wasn't getting anything useful and went back to my vacuous surfing. Suddenly, the intensity of conversation on the floor went up a notch and I looked up. A few people had gathered by the windows facing the parking lot and were talking excitedly. I also noticed it looked rather hazy outside. Better check it out, I thought.
A black SUV was on fire in our parking lot. The fire looked like it had started in the engine and by the time I was able to sneak into a VP's corner office for a better look at the carnage the entire front half of the truck was engulfed in flames and I could hear the tires starting to pop one by one. The grass in the median in front of the truck had caught fire as well as the car to the right of it and the car across the median from it. I don't know how the fire started, but I'll probably be able to find out by checking the company grapevine tomorrow.
So yeah, not quite sure how to read that.
Anyone? Anyone? |
