Make of it what you will:

I was sitting around at work today, feeling dead-tired and out of sorts. It's been a rough week. So, instead of putting my nose back on the grindstone I fired up my web browser and surfed the liberal news sites (CommonDreams, Truthout, etc.). This started me wondering: "Where is this country (the US) going? What's going to happen to us?" Rather than leave it be, I decided to tune into the hum of office conversation and try to pick out some sort of message. (I do this every once in a while and it's usually pretty effective. The floor I work on is all cubicles with plenty of air- and foot-traffic-flow. It's supposed to "enhance communication between teams and team members".) After a couple of minutes, I decided I wasn't getting anything useful and went back to my vacuous surfing. Suddenly, the intensity of conversation on the floor went up a notch and I looked up. A few people had gathered by the windows facing the parking lot and were talking excitedly. I also noticed it looked rather hazy outside. Better check it out, I thought.

A black SUV was on fire in our parking lot. The fire looked like it had started in the engine and by the time I was able to sneak into a VP's corner office for a better look at the carnage the entire front half of the truck was engulfed in flames and I could hear the tires starting to pop one by one. The grass in the median in front of the truck had caught fire as well as the car to the right of it and the car across the median from it. I don't know how the fire started, but I'll probably be able to find out by checking the company grapevine tomorrow.

So yeah, not quite sure how to read that.

Anyone? Anyone?

Well, the answer is, it's gonna blow up.

Well, "it" America and our freakish love of oil-luvvin SUVs or "it" the hidden chain of oil conglomerates and moneymen that tell us it's okay to get a free-after-tax-breaks vehicle that suck up our resources like jujubees?

Or is there a difference?

...and I thought "it" was just a car. Hope that didn't cause a big boom in the parking lot.

Or perhaps "it" means more activity from a few fringe ecoterrorist groups, the kind who like to vandalize SUVs and commit the odd case of arson. Or maybe it just hints at something bad for the car's owner - a restriction of metaphorical mobility.

My own experience shouts that your first, immediate response typically works best in the prediction business. It sounds like you've written what you (and I) want to happen. Anything you thought of and immediately discounted?

Funny that the office design helps you tune into the hazy hum of coworkers talking. I've found that a wonderful method of divination/synchronicity. Maybe the designers had no intention of their office space working like that, but they'd seem more interesting if they did. Another example of magick in the workplace, if your willing to grab it.

Sounds like you already read it.

Heh... yeah maybe I did, Z, maybe I did.

somewhat: Booms aplenty, sad to say. I don't think I dismissed any possibility out of hand, tho perhaps I refused to see right away. I think Lebra's little push helped me get where I would have inevitably gone (and thanks BTW). This is certainly not a sign I was hoping for. That said, this incident brought to mind an intensive working I did a few weeks ago (the less said about that for now, the better. sorry). So I think the universe is moving in an inevitable direction here. I only hope we can learn something from what comes next.

Black vehicles (esp. SUVs, given their socio-political-economic symbolism as discussed above) right after thinking about the country & govt. tells me that either the (Republican) Powers That Be, Big Money, Secret Corridors of US Power, Men in Black, etc. are going to explode metaphorically and come crashing down (or at least get knocked down a few pegs), or the country as a whole will. I'd prefer the former and not the latter. But this is interesting...usually we do get a response when we ask for a sign on something.

I'm not saying you should be worrying too much, but put it this way, I wouldn't be signing up to the Dakkar Rally if I were you.

You're not planning on flying any time soon are you?

"...usually we do get a response when we ask for a sign on something."

Yeah. Remind me to stop asking.

I did a card reading for some clarification:

past - The Empress
present - 6 of Pentacles
future - The Moon
help to expect - 5 of Wands reversed
what u can't change - The High Priestess

So I take that to mean we were nuturing once, we're moving thru a period of folks helping one another, and that things get wild in the future. Anger and betrayal will help this along, and...I may not be able to ignore my intuitions on this one. I'm also thinking that there's a lot of female energy to this reading. I wonder...
