I would actually try that, but for two reasons:

1) I can't dial out on my phone at the moment, due to non-payment of bills.

2) I fucking hate text messages, so rarely use them if I can avoid it.

I do like the idea, though.

I effectively stopped using my mobile for a few month's earlier this year because its old and knackard state had finally prevented its effective functioning.

It was a bit of a pain, but i survived - using various electronic means to keep in contact with people- it certainly wasn't enough of an inconvenience to go out of my way to get a new phone... until i got some free time to get round to doing it.

I hate my mobile phone, I try to spend as much time away from it as possible. I think this hatred stems from my use of phone as alarm clock- who doesn't hate the object that makes them get out of their bed in the morning?
