i was trying a little bit of a writing experiment dealing with permutations. you know, Brion Gysin and Bill Burroughs idea of a rearanged sentance in all posible orders. i got to about 30 when i realised Gysin made them using a computer program and i wondered if a version of the progam had suvived on the net. any adress, or advice, would be great, and thanks.

Sorry, I can't really help you with that, but if you're into Gysin and Burroughs, check this out - hours upon hours of them reciting their work. And all for free (not just free, but under a Creative Commons license).

there are a few online resources for this sort of thing. The Travesty Generator is a perl program that does cut ups in a useful way. There are a few others floating around the net. Search runme.org for their collection of text-manipulation software. They also have the source for Travesty if you have a compiler.

There's one here that works on 'similar principles' to the one you want : Click and scroll down to the bottom

Hope it helps.

On a related note, I'm looking for another text-fucking tool. I want something that will let you input a block of text and will then automatically replace random words with their synonyms. Can anyone help?
