I'll tell you what makes me cry. The fucking Streets. "Dry your eyes, mate"? Stab your eyes, mate!

Matthew Fluxington
18:34 / 16.08.04
I feel so empty.

I'm joking about The Streets. What really makes me cry is that there will be no Marvel Boy II. And that the suits at Marvel are riding roughshod over Grant Morrison's X-Men stories. Fuck you, suits!

All I ever do is give and give and give, but I feel that I have nothing left for myself. Aside from alienation and desperate loneliness, that is.

Oh my god, I've been telling Radix about this place I used to go in high school called Al's? It was a combination hotdog and Chinese food stand & I used to always get french fries, whenever I was doing theater after school. So Sunday for lunch he said, let's go to that hotdog place by your high school. I was surprised actually that it was still there, I walked in & I was like Oh my god, it's Al!! His name isn't actually Al. It's Chuck. But I almost burst into tears right then.

Holy shit, you're Joanie Cunningham, aren't you?

Persephone

Did you get that Al is Chinese from that? He's not actually Chinese. He's Thai.

Persephone, the 50s were a Special Time, where there was no such things as Chinese or Koreans or Thais or Vietnamese. They were all "Chinamen." Like Al.

I walk down the street, and all I see are happy couples. Is there no one for me? Why must I be all alone? Why can't I feel the warm touch of a lover? I feel so repulsive.

First there are kisses, then there are sighs. And then, before you know where you are, you're saying goodbye.

I cry at the movies all the time. I don't know if it is because I am so easily manipulated, or if sitting alone in the dark with a tummy full of popcorn, Junior Mints and diet soda turns me into an emotional cripple. Either way, I'll prolly cry tears of joy at the showing of "Blue Velvet" next week when Frank yells:

Shut up! It's DADDY, you shit head. Where's my bourbon!"

It's just so fucking MOVING.

The ending of Cool Runnings, when they pick up the sledge and walk over the crossing line...that bit always gets me going.

I watched Nell and Midnight Cowboy back-to-back the other night and blubbed for ages. The endings of those two films always set me off.

i cry at just about anything medium-strongly emotional. Not that sobbing sniffling sort of cry; i haven't done that in years. but that "pay no attention that my eyes are leaking whilst i'm talking with you" thing happens rather frequently. i suspect that the former doesn't happen because the latter is so common, like i let the water out at a lower pressure so it doesn't go everywhere. it mostly only disturbs me because people i've known only a year or two are used to it. that can't be good, can it?

Well, does it feel good? As long as it doesn't make bits of you go black and drop off.

Reading The Shadow in the North when in bed with a cold. To recap sans spoilers: just when you think she's caved in to circumstance and our Villain's wiles, our Plucky Heroine delivers a heartbreaking speech (excoriating Villain in succinct manner) and then does exactly the right thing (using her sharpshooting skeelz to blow up a chunk of Yorkshire - but nobody except the villain gets hurt).

Sniffle.

I genuinely nearly bust the fuck out sobbing at the end of Pieces of April the other night.

I've been on the verge of tears all day.

I can't exactly pin down why - or, rather, why now (I know pretty much why: a sense of isolation and clawing desperation, and deep feelings of the meaninglessness of my life).

And I'm listening to Of the Wand and the Moon, and it's not helping. Maybe Ostara?? Oh, the tears, the tears...

You know what really makes me cry? Apart from perfectly happy Chinese hotdog stand guys? Baseball. It's so emotional! Yes yes, I know, there's no crying in baseball. But there is, if you're sitting next to me.

I cry almost every day, usually while listening to music in the car. I leave work in about 15 minutes, and there's a mix CD with the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' "Maps" on it in the car stereo, so I expect to be in tears within the hour—right about the moment when Karen sings the words "I'll stay the same."

I'm like Pavlov's dogs, me.

I've been sniffling and sobbing regularly about my sister-in-law's wedding. She was 11 when I met her, and I still think of her as that age. She still had a security blanket. She's not allowed to get married! Oh, but he's so sweet to her and they're so happy... it's just so... aaah... (*blubber*)

Her brothers wrote her a song and surprised her with it at the bridal shower, ye gods, what a sobfest.
