Is 'tamper with the trophies in my temple' a euthamism?

Benny, what "menace" would Superboy release by "tampering" with her "trophies"? Could it be that the female orgasm is "the universe's greatest menace"?

Excuse me as I remember why the Silver Age rocked so hard.

I love old silver age covers, where there is a thirty minute conversation going on between everyone. i love the old Despero (I think) playing chess with the JLA cover, where everone is thinking stuff and Despero (I think) is waffling on about something or other. What's everyone's preference for covers to go off thread briefly, talkies or silent?

Well, modern covers with words generally suck. They try to be these big epic dynamic masterpeices, and then they add a caption and it just ruins it.

Is 'tamper with the trophies in my temple' a euphemism?

Is is now.

"Dude, I was totally going to tamper with the trophies in supergirl's temple until she broke all the bones in my hand."

I've got this unpublished story I put together from frames of old Superman comics (photocopied, natch.), the centerpiece of which is a panel from an old Dr. Fate team-up where an adult Superman is being spanked by a giant-sized doppelganger of his father, Jor-El. He's arching his back and yelling "Yes, punish me, Daddy! I deserve it!".

Yep.

I really liked the Silver Age homages on Morrison's JLA covers (though maybe he's not the one to credit) -- for instance the issue where Superman Blue (and someone else, perhaps J'onn) is holding back a struggling Batman and Luther is strolling off stage right with Joker. Speech balloon runs something like "STOP, Batman! We must let Lex and the Joker escape, to SAVE the WORLD!"

I guess I'm not remembering it very well but to be fair the last time I saw it was on the month of its publication (98?)

kovacs: vague & inaccurate textual analysis of half-remembered popular cultural icons since 1996.
