Why can't I have my StarCraft - The Movie???

I just couldn't hold it any longer. Starship Troopers was almost like it, and now I just saw the Alien vs Predator thread, where they mention 3-way interspecies fights...

Oh, it's an old strategy game for PC. Three races (one is human) fighting for survival.

Think of the movie as "starship troopers" with a third alien species besides the bugs, and you're almost there.

It's a computer game.

This is a weirdly geeky thread, even by my standards.

I don't know what are your standards, Bobossboy, but I reckon this thread reaches new depths (or heights, hey, I'm not judgin'!) in geekism. What can I say, but:

"NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED!"

I can't fault enthusiasm, Jade.

What would be so good about StarCraft the movie, then?

I guess it would be a lot like AvP. The puny humans, themselves involved in a civil war, caught between the godlike Protoss and nearly infinite numbers of Zerg battling it out. Human politicians could try to use the Protoss/Zerg war to their advantage, etc.

Yes, doesn't really tell me what would be good about it, however.

Well, just imagine a mix of sci-fi politics, action, land-air-space eye popping futuristic battles, fancy display of technologies (with the Zerg technology being the most interesting to capture on film). Violent eye candy (if one has in mind that the cinematics of the game in-between the chapters were pretty nice already), with lots of potential for drama, in the rigth hands...

Look, you're getting StarCraft: Ghost, isn't that enough?

I actually don't think that Starcraft would work as a film, I mean, I know it'd be nice and all to see it, but for a studio to decided to make it, the thing would just be a hunk of CGI with rather boring stereotyped characters.

On the other hand, a fully CGI TV show might be interesting, no?

Sounds a bit like the plot-line of Babylon 5...
