if we're talking rape, crack and domestic violence, then it has to be the milkman murders #3. this one's bubbling along nicely.

Call me a old traditionalist if you must but just mentioning rape crack and domestic violence impresses me not at all. How are the issues handled? How about the characters and plot. in short, why do you think we should buy this comic?

its a black comedy in the milligan tradition. like a darker version of the eaters. centering around a dysfunctional family in a suburban nightmare. issue #3 raises the stakes somewhat, so i'm looking forward to #4 immensely.

I tried multiple times to do searches for "David Rees" and "Get Your War On" (I **KNOW** there were threads with BOTH titles) to talk about the new GET YOUR WAR ON II book of Rees' GYWO cartoons, and the search engine failed to find ANY results. This has happened to me a number of times. Moderators, any ideas on why this happens?

anyway, Get Your War On II is out. It's good. I like it. Get it. All profits ( and I mean 100%!! ) go to landmine relief in Afghanistan. How does the guy live if he doesn't make any money on his paperback compliations? I guess the income from Rolling Stone is enough to live on...? He donated 100% of the profits of his first Get Your War On paperback to the same cause, also.

A quick review from Aint It Cool News:

>> GET YOUR WAR ON II - From the man who brought us MY FIGHTING TECHNIQUE IS UNSTOPPABLE and MY FILING TECHNIQUE IS UNSTOPPABLE comes another volume of GET YOUR WAR ON, straight from the pages of Rolling Stone and David Rees’ hilarious website. Packed with more F-Bombs than Dick Cheney on the Senate floor, Rees’ clip-art office-deco people continue their bitter running commentary on the political news of the day, running from September 2002 through July of this year. Timely, scathing, and really fucking pissed-off, GET YOUR WAR ON disproves the cliché of the passive hippie peacenik with its rage, its research, and its no-sacred-cow-unslaughtered attitude. Sure, the majority of these strips now inspire grim nods rather than helpless laughter, but that’s more of a reflection on the depressing state of the nation than on David Rees’ comedic talents. GET YOUR WAR ON II is ultimately more frustrating than satisfying, as the book’s outlook is anything but optimistic. But hey, what other comic is donating all proceeds to land-mine relief in Afghanistan? - Lizzybeth

Because the search engine sucks. Use Google. Really. There's a thread in Policy and Help about how best to do this.
