Dunc, are you a closet conservative?

Not nice, and very, very stupid. Not sure I have anything else to add.

14:13 / 02.08.04
How can any superhero be gay? They dress in leather, work out, like colourful (rainbow) costumes and greco-roman wrestling...I just don't get it...

The Natural Way
14:18 / 02.08.04
Amazing! Right wing twats in understanding metaphor shocka!

The Falcon
14:28 / 02.08.04
No, boboss, but I do fart about on some really bad comic mbs. Found this at Quesada's. Everyone there was suitably appalled, which just goes to show that the X-Men do make the world a better, more understanding place.

Take that, haterz.

A closet conservative? Yuk. No.

No. No. No.

Bryan Singer is gay?

Benny the Ball
15:28 / 02.08.04
That was the first thing I thought when I read it.

Isn't every body in film gay though? Gay and liberal, apparently?

Bryan Singer is gay?

He's certainly well-groomed enough.

Benny the Ball
15:41 / 02.08.04
Of course, it all makes sense now! The Usual Suspects is obviously a gay film, a metaphor.

Fenster and Baldwin are gay lovers, but no one wants to hear about it, hence Fenster's mumbling.

Keates wants to go 'straight'.

Kyzer Sozeee rhymes with gay.

the dialogue - 'mumble mumble fingered asshole mumbles' and 'Oswald was a fag.'

Someother stuff about men shooting men or blowing them or something tenuous.

The final scene is about the de-crippling affect of coming out, of accepting what you are, of the strength and power of coming clean...

why didn't I see it all before?

I am against children accepting a lifestyle that leads to the destruction of the family, STD's, and the destruction of civilization.

Fuck. There's me, coming up with all manner of evil genius-type ways to destroy civilisation (and some of them were well-fucking-elaborate and had had a LOT of time and effort put into them), and had I just been gay I could have saved myself so much fucking effort just by existing!

"Being gay" and "being Vandal Savage" are at this point pretty much indistinguishable.

Yep.

So what we have here is conservatives saying that any stories that say that it's ok to be gay are horrible. So what else is new?

Wow, that guy is the stupidest git I've seen on the internet since the other day or so. But what really pisses me off is these gits who make all Christians and such seem like hate mongers. Yeah, the Bible says a lot of things. But it's just a book. It's what you do with your life that counts, not how many pages you read.

Homosexuality doesn't destroy marriage. I don't see how the two concepts connect, really. If you love your girlfriend/wife, that's great! Does the gay guy down the street alter your relationship in any way? No... Marriage itself is an outdated and archaic concept anyway.

But then, what do I know? After all, it's Johnny Foreigner and Tommy Gaypants who are destroying the world, and those damned women who keep coming out of the kitchen.

Moral outrage at homosexual comic book agenda. Didn't someone suggest this in the Let's make George Morrison even more famous than he already is thread.

"Scene from one of the comics, Ultimate X-men, where a character makes an advance on another openly gay character."

Yeah you fuckwit, i hope your kids turn gay, then you can buy that comic for them.

Fucking matrix blimp.

I couldn't read past the third reply, painful, just horribly painful.
Does this guy realise that kids don't actually buy comic books anymore?
This ain't the seventies.

Stoatie is a rain dog too There's me, coming up with all manner of evil genius-type ways to destroy civilisation (and some of them were well-fucking-elaborate and had had a LOT of time and effort put into them), and had I just been gay I could have saved myself so much fucking effort just by existing!

Silly Stoatie, that's why the homosexualists invented ten pints of lager, it's the 'switching' mechanism.

It's odd that the right wing (esp. on-line) have noticed comic books and are going after them. Michael Medved (former decent movie reviewer of crappy horror films and now right wing radio handjob)has written articles about how left wing Captain America and the Punisher are now...

And I have to laugh that people have finally figured out the "secretly hidden gay agenda" in the X-Men. It only took 30 years for them to puzzle it all out. Now, wait until they read the back issues from the 70's with the villains all dressing in bondage gear.

Not much for me to add, the reaction here makes me very happy, and I certainly don't want to drag this thing out any longer, but I have to comment on this one bit someplace.

I am offended by so many things in that thread (yet respect their rights to post them), but this quote blew me away:

Oh, one more thing, the "X-Men" movies aren't even that great, especially the sequel. The first two Batman and Superman movies are much better. Gene hackman should have got an oscar for his portrayal of Lex Luther, hell his sidekick(don't know his name) should have gotten one too. Not since Jack Lemmon and Peter Falk in the movie "The Great Race", has their been such a great pair of villans! Semper-Fidelis.

I'm not sure what's more troubling: the misuse of "their" that's such a cliche I question if this is a real post, or that somebody thinks this is sane response. Is this a comment that Batman and Superman are straighter than the X-Men and thus better? The Batman movies not gay influenced? And finally, the fact that our marine friend here is lauding Ned Beatty for an Oscar in Superman, when clearly he should have received the Oscar for his work in Deliverence.

That was fake right? No conservative knucklehead could put his foot in his mouth that many times in one post, right?

I'm going to read comics to escape from how goofy the world is. Oh, right. This is a comics discussion. I'm going to sleep until November.

Thanks for listening.

That board's actually quite funny in a "well, it would be if there weren't real people behind all that bollox" sort of way. They seem to have some sort of ongoing feud with the Ministry boards as well.

I know this is an easy point to score, but I wonder how many of these "well, it USED to advance the agenda of the civil rights movement (which was a GOOD thing) but now it's been twisted to advance the agenda of these filthy perverts" types would actually have even approved of the X-Men's civil rights parallels back in the 60s?

My stance on the whole matter is, that if the X-Men don't have a secret homosexual agenda, they bloody well should have! Semper Fi THAT, motherfucker!

Funniest piece of shit I read in a while..the fact that there's an actual person who believes the crap he's sprouting makes it even funnier..

Stoatie deserves an award for coming out of the closet! Good for you! Now you can destroy western civilization AND wear yellow trainers with spandex!

So the predictable, middle-class, public school educated, insular, white male stereotype believes that the x-men promotes homosexuality? Why doesn’t he use his bible to support another beautifully articulate essay on how the x-men promote bestiality as well (Trish Tilby had a four year sexual relationship with big monkey man)? That won’t happen because this isn’t about god, the devil, religion or even about what’s right or wrong, it’s about a little pathetic man who has realized that he’s not going to inherit his grandfathers earth and it frightens him. Homos are a threat to society/civilization? Seeing as they created it they can probably do with it what they want, don’t you think? The world has changed and his time has come. To paraphrase a famous lesbian super-villianess, Shut up and be replaced.

P.S. The world wasn’t created in seven days and there was never an Adam and an Eve, they were primates who ate their own shit (not magic apples).

"It's extremely disturbing for this type of material to be exposed to our children when they go to the comic book stores."

I'm almost sure that's the wrong way around, but I'm fascinated by the idea of a bunch of comics totally traumatised by the arrival of a crowd of spotty bigotkids.

But wow. This is someone catching on waaaay too late to the idea that comics are subversive. Even the ones which stay well clear sexual issues (at least notionally) are rife with little moments of subversion... battle so entirely lost...

But yeah. Ick.

I couldnt get ver y far in that post....geez ...people like that make me sick.
Its the same old argument everytime, I think.
I get so very sick of being told "you chose to be gay". Yes, you are right. I woke up in a cold sweat one night and decided "pussy just isnt good enough for me anymore".
I also like guys tellin me "how do you know you're gay, have you been with a girl?" - my usual response" How do you know you're straight, have you been with a man?"
I also get disgusted by most of the christians I find that telling me how the bible says this and that about it...well, last I checked, it also says no sin outweighs another...so why aren t the christians out there persecuting the mass murderers and psycho paths?
Im sorry, ignorance like that just plain sickens me. Agree/disagree if you wish.....
