Which New X-Men character did you identify with?

For me it'd have to be the boy Summers - tall, mildly disabled, angst-ridden and hating it and just desperate to make a clean go of things in life. No relationship is ever 100%, analogous, of course - I deal with it all by being whacky, I wouldn't touch a girl like Emma with yours, and I've never beaten down on Magneto with my mighty fists. But give me time. So, who did you feel represented for you in that epic tale? And how do they differ from you?

Jesus, Radiator, any excuse to continue warbling about NXM. Go read something else, my man.

I always like Jamie Maddox, from X-Factor, and felt a little buit like him (except for the multiplying abilities, of course). Him or Alex Summers. I know their not from NXM, but I decided to widen the field as it were. Over all, Ted Kord is closest to me in comics though.

Madox was in the paris/weapon XII arc, so there you go.

MadR(!)ox.

I also identify with Cyclops, but I prefer redheads to blondes.

I very much hope my (blonde) girlfriend never finds out my dark internet comic messageboard secret and reads that.

I'd like to say I identified with one of the cool people... but no. I'm Beak. Except without the beak, obviously. How shit is that?

Nobody feels like Phoenix? I totally feel like Phoenix. I've always felt like Phoenix on some level... even when I was in my Beak phase.

I remember me and my brother and my neighbor friend always played X-Men in the woods. Like make believe living in a comic. We had a broomstick and my brother was always gambit, I was usually nightcrawler, and our friend was wolvie. Ah those were the days.

When I was younger we used to play star wars. Me, a kid called Nathan Kelly and James Little. We'd shout 'let's play star wars' Nathan would shout 'I'll be luke skywalker' and me and James would say 'we're sandpeople' and hit him with sticks...

Every time, without fail, almost every day one summer, this would happen.

And we all know what Phoenix's are, don't we?

Squids.

I'm... sad to say, I empathise with Cassie Xavier. 40 years clinging to a sewer wall- now if that isn't a metaphor for my life, I don't know what is.

Oh, look, Gladiator's gone and wet his silly romper suit.

Definitely Beast.

Especially when he 'came out'. That's exactly the sort of wilfully perverse thing I'd love to do in order to try and fuck with people's heads, but would never actually have the nerve to do.

Oh, and I can put my big toe right in my mouth.

As a teen, I remember identifying with Doug Ramsey. Not just because of the wish fulfillment of getting to hang out with Kitty (oh! Kitty!), but because his gifts often felt a bit useless in dire situations.

As for the New X-men, it was suggested in another thread that I might be the Basilisk of Barbelith and I have to say that I find that entirely appropriate.

I identify with Jamie Madrox the Multiple Man because of this bit from an interview with Peter David:

"I also think Multiple Man has a ton of untapped potential. Something I never got a chance to play with the first time around, but always wanted to, was that here's a guy who could send dupes of his all over the place, have them acquire knowledge, then they remerge with him and he acquires it. What do you do when you're someone who can't make up his mind what direction to go in life because you can go in all directions at once? I think that'd be interesting to explore."

I feel that way about my life, except for the creating duplicates part.

i really identify myself with ciclops.

The doubts about himself, his problems with relationships, his coolness in extreme situations and his way of being.

However, Beast is also a good option.

Xorn.

Because I don't actually exist!

So long suckers!

Upon closer examination it would seem that I actually do exist so, if genderbending's allowed, I guess Emma.

Smart, aloof, considered sexy by a decent swathe of the populace, snide but deep down only wanting to be accepted.

Contributing to the group (any group) without ever being a part of team in any real way. Reacting to criticism with cold tacitness unto the utmost (behold my diamond skin), and goddam am I ever a snappy dresser.

Sheesh. Looking at that list all I really need is a nose job and a moneyed family to make it perfect.

(Would it be tasteless to point out that Chaos__15 just identified with Multiple Man more than anyone else here?)

I was dealing with a spell of infidelity at the time so, I'd have to say Scott Summers. God -- we are both idiots!
