The 'Big Brother 2004' thread having reached its 41st page, I'm wondering what's the longest ever thread on Barbelith.

Can anyone be bothered to check?

I'm almost certain it's that one, probably the second longest is something like the 'What are you reading? 2003' in books or perhaps one of the more divisive New X-Men threads, three-quarters of which is normally taken up with discussion about an issue before anyone has seen it.

Not only that but it's all Ganesh' fault

The only other massive thread I can remember now is the old 'Random Q & A Thread' thread which I think had one thousand four hundred and something posts. So since the BB thread is at 1498 now it's probably the longer of the two.

Yup, it's got to be one of the longest threads in history, but, thankfully, it's also one of the most entertaining. I mean, why would I need to watch Big Brother when I've got Ganesh to do it for me? Well, apart from the fact that he doesn't seem to find Shell anywhere near as, um, interesting as I do for some reason...

Tit for tat. She's both.

I don't watch BB at all, yet I read that thread every time I sign on. Saves me having to turn on the tv to watch some annoying show, when instead I can know what's happening (er roughly) and get laughs out of the witty discussion. It's like Mystery Science Theatre except with Lithers instead of robots and that lame human. Why didn't they just replace him with a robot too? Damn him.

I don't think you're the only one who reads the thread in lieu of watching the show itself. I've a horrible feeling that, once the show's finished, I'm going to look back at the howevermany pages of in-depth analysis and think "fuck, why did I do that?" - then emerge, blinking into the light of a new dawn.

God, the hours I've wasted watching that show and then coming here to write something witty or insightful and then finding Ganesh had got there first and made a far better comment that I had in mind and then deciding not to write it.

Less than 24 hours to go now and the perhaps I can get my life back and maybe write that computer program that was going to make me millions before I got sidetracked by a fucking TV show.

It's over. I feel weirdly (if predictably) bereft.

Can we not give him some sort of prize?

A Marvel-style no-prize, perhaps?

I wouldn't worry - there are bound to be a few reunion shows over the next few weeks before the spin-off series begin...

And, in the meantime, there's the whole 'has Nadia's win altered the fabric of British society as we know it' thing.
