Carnesky's Ghost Train

ONLY NICE THINGS
08:28 / 27.07.04
This looks like it could be kinda cool...

Carnesky's Ghost Train.

Carnesky is apparently part of the Duckie crew, and has set up this ghost train as the sort of ghost train you might actually have wanted to go on as a child, but with a current running through it of the ghosts of migrant women.

Might be a giggle. Apparently, it takes about ten minutes and costs a fiver, so we could possibly combine it with a drink in the Vibe Bar or less horrible East End drinkery (not too far from the Spitz...) some time... it's on till Sep 23, so no rush...

I was about to post about a drink this weekend, maybe this could happen at the weekend?

I bet it was the ghost train owner all along (pesky kids etc.)

Am actually very interested in this - had an interesting write-up/review in New Statesman a while back, and it's fascinating from a purely technical perspective. Lots of proper smoke and mirrors, as it were. So yes. Quite possibly.

OK.
Just looked at the website, and I am so sold.

Can't make this weekend, unfortunately, as I have to deal with work-related horrors. But if anyone's going later than that, count me the fuck in. This looks amazing.

Anyway, what's a fiver for twelve minutes? (Insert Mum joke here).

Fantastik! This is a nice thing to return to London and learn about. Stoatie, when can you go? Let's make a plan! How about your next off week?

I'd be up for it this weekend but it doesn't look like it's on until Monday. Next week perhaps.

How's about next weekend (rather than this)? The, errm, somethingth of August? (Sorry, about to go to bed and have no handy means of measuring days and stuff. Also drunk.)

Regrettable Juvenilia

I'm definitely keen on this but both of the next two weekends might be out - would it be totally crazy to make it a Thursday night, say?

My spouse and I are going to go down to this on Saturday night, at an undecided time. Anyone else likely to be around? We'll likely stop in at the Foundry and then head back to Stokey for a mates big birthday party at Zen. Has anyone been yet? Is it all it's cracked up to be? (nb: if not, I don't mind, the presumption carries me)

I have to say the hype is a bit better than the event. By this I mean the promo artwork and the presentation of this thing is superior and beautiful and intriguing. The ghost train itself is a pretty good effort, but I do think there could be more to it. Still and all, I would go again and would recommend it as a destination. Luckily it's in Brick Lane so one can make an evening out of cheap Indian restaurant visiting, a little stroll about Brick Lane and the ride itself. Have a plan. O and we had the added bonus that some of the punters were in full costume, burles-Q style, so something to look at while waiting for others to arrive.

Thanks for the review, Lily.

Me, I'm still excited to go, but like Flyboy I'm unfortunately booked for the next weekend at least. I love the idea of having an Indian meal and then off to the show.

I'm just gonna second Fly's idea and suggest seeing it on a schoolnight OR what about Friday the 20th of August?

Thoughts?
