A pocketful of dreams

Does anyone else remember the awful boy band known as Big Fun?

Buy it here from Amazon.co.uk

They haunt my dreams, the fuckers.

Recall other shit pop groups below if you will.

You start this thread at a good time for me, because I'm clearing most of my stuff out of my parent's house just now. This basically means throwing away a whole lot of teen magazines.

I can't remember Worlds Apart doing anything other than modelling for TV Hits magazine, but there appears to have been an album at one point -

Who could forget the majesty of Bad Boys Inc?

Amazingly, Let Loose made it to a Best Of..., albeit an inexpensive one. That's the great thing about boy bands who write their own songs, they get much more credibility as serious artistes.

E.Y.C. short for "express yourself clearly" or "Evil Yank Cretins" were a definite favourite.

Ah, Big Fun. How could I forget? I want to add the majesty of MN8 to this thread, as well as less-derivative-numbered-boyband 2wo third3, pronounced "Two Thirds" for those of you who don't speak FUCKING UNICODE. Cap the list with North and South - you remember them, don't you, with their own tie-in CBBC special, and you've got a set.

All to be thrown on the bin. Will find gifs later, though I'm sure Vincennes can probably find some signed posters to scan in or something.

Paleface, you reminded me that 2wo Third3 ever existed, and for that you can have a signed MN8 poster. Sadly not mine, the scanner shall remain cold and unused until someone starts a thread on 'Indie Pop Wuss Music Of Yesteryear'. Back to the important topic of MN8; those who are unfamiliar with the band's output should note that they achieved fame through a song called I've Got A Little Something For You

2wo Third3 were considered to be particularly eccentric in the boy band world, although pictures like the below -

- do little to mask the fact that they were actually a weaker Erasure, which is more or less like being a 0.01 mmol solution of Pet Shop Boys.

And I am sorry for all the pictures here, but the many who don't remember EYC should probably know

YOUNG GIRLS WERE MEANT TO FIND THESE MEN ATTRACTIVE

Anyone remember Lyte Funky Ones (LFO), far worse than Big Fun, they released a song called Summer Girls.

And sadly O-Town have now left us. Let us mourn their absence:

Sudden flashback to ‘Upside-Down’ (I think) a boy band whose presence in the world was filmed in all its glory in the late 90s in a TV special which showed them being formed etc. They were filming the video for the first single and all that stuff, and we saw them being told by management that they’d be touring clubs etc doing personal appearances (like take That did) to get some grass-roots support, including gay clubs. Cue some homophobic remarks from at least one of the band.
This show went out mid-week, and the single was out the next week. The criticism that greeted the show and the non-success for the single went some way to suggesting that there may still be such a thing as bad publicity.

Bad Boys Inc, you say ? Genius name. A boy band so street, and radical, they’ve had themselves incorporated for tax purposes. Way to show The Man !

Hmmm I always thought Pat Sharp was in Big Fun.

*Teen Suicide, don't do it* by Big Fun. Wasn't it in Heathers? and was it a real single?
