I thought it would be a bit self indulgent to start a Come See Seth's Band thread. So I'm expanding the remit so that we can all let the Lith know about our upcoming music related events. First up:

Hunting Lodge have been compared to The Jesus Lizard, Liars and The Birthday Party. Come see us at:

23 July - Tunbridge Wells - The Forum
24 July - Bristol - The Croft (Choke)
30 July - Oxford - The Wheatsheaf
7 August - Winchester - The Railway
14 August - Southampton - The King Alfred (Noise Annoys)

We're far better than the songs up for download on the site, which were done with the previous drummer and guitarist. The sound is much heavier and nastier now, and a lot more danceable. Don't come if you're prone to headaches.

Oh, and if you want us to play for an event or need a support band, send me a PM or email.

A band featuring you on drums that sounds like Birthday Party, Liars etc.... fucking hell, I am so there!!

Or at least, I would be if I had any spare cash for traveling etc.

Good luck, and Rock On.

Thanks Riz. I had a feeling we'd be right up your street. When the 7" is done I'll see if I can get you a copy.

i'll be at the railway gig (winchester)!

but also...

"witness world-famous sonic contortionists The Red Scare at a Capital City venue near you, soon!

28/7/04 Islington Academy (third on bill with emo jazz-nicks Princess Head-Butt and f!cked-up queens of riffage Squad 69), its gonna be an art-noise massacre!

29/7/04 head-lining at the Coast Bar in Camberwell (it's on coldharbour lane, daddy, and its FREEEEE) together with skewed alchemists of sound from the Girl With records who'll be mixing up vibrations and electricity to create GOLEMS OF DEVASTATING BEAUTY AND INTRINSIC GOOD-HUMOUR

vive la revolution! onwards into the burning sun!

THE RED SCARE use voices, guitars, drums, synths and samples to express the bewilderment, anger, and fragile beauty at the heart of today's human condition. Not content to lay down and become the domesticated primates society so desires, THE RED SCARE are attempting mass transcendence through sonic levitation and psychic liberation.
WARNING: THE RED SCARE illicit changes in human bio-chemistry.

(a silver mount zion, neurosis, mogwai, paul van dyk etc...)"

Some quotes from the Choke Forum message board about last night...

Where's that 'gig of the year' thread? Because tonight was a strong contender. I missed Bucky, though I assume they were as good as ever. King Alexander were safestyle, top yelping punkiness. A bit like someone pissing in your face, if you really enjoyed having someone piss in your face. The Mighty Stars did their good-time garage rock & roll thing to great effect. And then Hunting Lodge demolished the entire building. I thought they were incendiary at Sausage Time, but now they're harder, stronger, tighter, more psychedelic and more unhinged. Attach a bulldog clip to each ear and plug yourself into the mains for a do-it-yourself version.

And...

Hunting Lodge - just how fucking good was that?

Now for something I didn't realise until yesterday...

Blurt are headlinging the Winchester Railway gig on the 7th August. We booked them ourselves and hired the venue, so we stand to lose money if we don't make it back on the door. So please, if you're thinking of coming to see Hunting Lodge, do yourself a favour and see the legendary Blurt in Winchester!

Given that state of affairs, you may want to put it on yr website that you're playing that gig at all...

Imagine if The Rapture were criminally insane death metal fans fronted by Jack Black's evil bastard half-brother. You've just imagined Hunting Lodge.

Actually I've just imagined The Murder of Rosa Luxemburg, but nevertheless, point taken.

Really sorry I couldn't make the gig - I was hundreds of miles away and exhausted.

Next time..

OK, so they're not my band - but lord nuneaton savage is busy playing Judge Dredd and I thought one of us had better mention this on here.
I've already stuck a bit of info in Gathering, but this is important enough to repeat - it's Yeti's final live gig on Tuesday 17th August at The Freebutt, Brighton. Yeti, for the uninitiated, are Brighton's foremost practicioners of the ancient art of drone/kraut/psychedelic noise and feature his lordship on bass and vocals.
Check our website for further details.

It's not my band, no, but Hunting Lodge are playing 93 Ft East, Monday 18th October, and also have new tracks with Seth smearing himself like rhythmic goo all over them up on here.

The gig is free entry. Who is going? Who wants to put me up if I go? Ill, I am looking at you with love and hope in my eyes. It is like looking at a poor, wickle puppy. Hug the puppy!

There'll be plenty of chances for London Hunting Lodge action.

18 October - 93ft East
23 October - Red Rooms
7 November - Velouria (the Zanzibar)

London Lithers, assemble! It'd be amazing if you'd give us a crowd at each of these.

Erm...

I've just found out that I'm going to be extremely busy. The full list of gigs, if you're around:

13.10.2004 - Southampton, Lennons. A Noise Annoys event, with Norway's Ultralyd headlining.

14.10.2004 - Brighton, Freebutt.

16.10.2004 - Bristol, some kind of skateboarding festival, details to be confirmed.

18.10.2004 - London, 93ft East.

23.10.2004 - London, Red Rooms.

29.10.2004 - Southampton, King Alfred. With Tigers headlining.

06.11.2004 - Unconfirmed gig with Mugstar. It's likely to be in either Bristol or Oxford.

07.11.2004 - London, Velouria at the Zanzibar.

21.11.2004 - Andover, the George Inn.

Any support you can give us would be amazing. It would also rule if any of you wanted to review us for whatever music sites, fanzines, weblogs or magazines you contribute to or want to have a go at contributing to. Cheers!
