Yellow trainers?

Can you ever envisage a situation where you could love me in yellow trainers?

These K-Swiss yellow trainers:

I mean, what would they go with?

Vile, vile, vile.

Those fucking horrible blue suede adidas with yellow stripes are even worse. And don't get me started on the black and pink ones.

So you're telling me not to buy them, then?

Those look like something a spide would wear. And you don't want to look like a spide.

I'm saying that if you were to buy them you would have to also buy a Ben Sherman shirt and a subscription to Max Power...

Or just move to Hoxton.

Or wear them to piss clubs?

I used to have blue and gold trainers (moment of madness, sale, more blue than gold, looked better in the shop, usual sorry story) and I wore them with big, silly baggy jeans. That was mainly to hide them until the sparkle wore off the gold thread, though.

K-Swiss is good however. Worth sticking with that idea at least...

...or move to Hoxton AND join a piss-club - are you sure you haven't got something you want to tell Mrs Sax?

Or leave them on the shelf and join our taking-the-piss club?

Gods you people can be so negative.
Yellow trainers work well with Jeans and they compliment the denim quite well (not overly distressed or faded denim though or even indigo... gotta be a bit precise there).
And I expect they go very well with a matching blue and yellow tracksuit. Maybe not to all of your tastes but totally wearable with the right mentality.

My flatmate has a pair of yellow Converse and I am admittedly very jealous, I wasn't when he first got them cos I didn't think they'd work with anything but he's proved me wrong time and time again.

Whats your preferred footwear Ganesh? I would love to see what the sartorially perfect are wearing these days.

I wonder if the toilet floors are spotlessly clean and dry in a piss club?

I'm still tempted by the yellow K-swiss, and I'm with Rawkusboi's opinion that they would go well with jeans. And they're on sale at only 30 quid nearby.

Thing is, I haven't worn trainers for about 15 years. Any other options/suggestions that won't make me look like a "spide" (is that the same as a chav?)?

I have a "thing" for white and red trainers (mostly white with red detail).
They work with almost any colour trousers (maybe not cream or red but who has red trousers?) and if you get all leather ones are very easy to clean.

Avoid the obvious brands like Addidas and Nike (although the simple Nike ones do look rather good). Puma's are fab but kinda everywhere at the moment. The K-Swiss ones are really nice but too much like knock off Addidas for my liking. The Asics ones have disappeared (dammit) but generally White + Red in any design look good.

According to the Mastercard and Glamour magazine co-sponsored advertorial I saw tonight, brightly coloured trainers are the menswear tip for the season.

I still say don't go within a mile of brightly coloured trainers (with a possible exception made for Nikes). Red, white and black should be the basic palette. Bright colours acceptable as detailing but not as main body colour...

Bosh. Metallics on trainers look verrry nice as well.

I'd say black, white, red and (to a small extent) blue are fine with trainers - but yellow's kinda Ali G. Red trainers were cool for a while, but yellow's a difficult colour generally.

I know very little about trainer fashion, but I would avoid someone wearing yellow trainers, on the assumption that they felt they had something to prove (in terms of masculinity) and might just chib me for smirking.

And yeah, it makes me think of piss clubs - but Yellow = Piss is probably a subcultural viewpoint.

and certain bugs dig the colour yellow so much they will follow you wherever you go- don't you remember the lesson of school sportsday?

I think if you got those "big pimpin'" style trainers (the solid blocks of plastic/concrete) then the colours can make you look a bit unghetto-fabolus.
With a skinny trainer (asics, converse, etc) then you can get away with a more unusual colour as there's less of it. And hopefully it'd be covered by your trousers anyway.

If you insist on wearing gold high tops then you get no pity from me.

Rubbish, rubbish, rubbish.

My favourite pair of shoes were made by Adidas. They look like the picture below but have yellow and green chinese-style flowers on them and yellow laces. I think they're absurdly beautiful and they prove the utter nonsense that shoe rules really are. If you're not being slightly tongue in cheek than you're talking nonsense. Somewhere out their someone has beautiful toes- it might be Ganesh. The point remains, buy Adidas if you want to and wear the brightest shoes possible... bright shoes are BEST.

Piss club all-dayers...

Surely this is the best of all possible worlds.

Wasn't this thread about trainers?

Buy them, wear them, and use to them to kick people who use nasty terms of class denigration like "spide".

If spides are as minks here, it's more a mentality than class thing.

Though class will often predicate.

Anyway, I wouldn't wear yellow trainers personally. I just got some lovely canvas-look black Diesels.

I have to go with the Liking Coloured Trainers gang, but those particular yellow ones I'd steer well clear of. If they were less lemony, and more of a sunshine yellow, however, it'd be a different matter.

Anna, I adore your trainers. Very very lovely.

You're all right. The trainers would make me look like an aggressive lemony piss-stinking working class fool.

So I didn't buy them.

However, I might well buy these Adbusters sneakers.
